Really British hunting gear as snot nosed? although i bet zodiac is right for some reason.
Here's the Barbour Steve McQueen "collection" (as if one jacket wasn't enough, there are 6 PAGES of shirts, pants, etc. aside from jackets.) Want to talk about fashion vs. utility? How about 35 British pounds for a T shirt?

Let the man rest in peace. he's probably turning in his grave at all this shit. although I watched bullitt again recently and am liking him more and more again. didn't realize how much input he had to the direction of the film before I rented the double dvd

although the motorcycle is OK. $50 t-shirts and bullshot fashion jackets for too much money is what I am not so sure about. Although who knows maybe he liked that stuff.

Some of the jackets are still almost like utility jackets. They almost look a little like Carhart work wear. (with the exception of the price tag). i'm not so sure any more -- a few spottings of yuppys and metro sexuals ina city of 8 million -- does not a fashion pose jacket make.

funny thing happened at lunch yesterday, Union Square NYC. 1:20pm

I was waiting on line at a Zaros on Broadway for a sandwich, and the guy in front of me had a really weathered but nice Belstaff waxed. Had around 3 classic moto patches on it, even had wear where you would know- a rider would have it.

There were 3 bikes outside so I said casually "What're you riding?"

He turned and looked at me, nice typical fellow, and said, "ride, what?"

I said, "Oh, saw the Bellstaff and the patches, thought you ride (and gave him the universally known twisting of the throttle hand movement...), sorry..."

He said, he didn't, but if he did he'd want a Triumph.....

I was waiting for him to say "you know, like the one Burt Renyold's mustache jumped in that Japanese prisoner camp movie.....

Yeah, I put that right up there with "pre-distressed" or weathered leather jackets right off the rack.

I hate that you can buy something it ordinarily takes years to accomplish, a nice patina on a great leather jacket. Same for pre-warn jeans.

Is nothing sacred anymore? I blame the yuppies for this shit, too busy to wear their own clothes, no time to do it while spending their lives inside making money. Instant gratification instead of paying their (clothing) dues.

I don't see yuppys doing that often enough for it to be a real trend as you describe. I go to 14st station all the time. Besides I can't imagine getting rid of your schott leather because non riders wear those. You're being ridiculous. But then again said Belstaff must been $700. But at the same time Schott is $500 (and for a shitty, cheap leather, bad union made ) jacket

Yeah that same motorcycle James Dean rode with his riding cap tilted sideways in that motorcyle film where his bike gang takes over that California town

Walk a dog through SoHo or down Madison ave on a fall or cool spring day.. you won't have the fingers enough to count how many non riding Ewan's you'll see.

The difference being, hipster yuppies don't seem to wear Shotts. The Ramones did (whom I saw live 4 +times that I can remember......)

ps - My 3 old Shotts were made quite well, excellent in fact. Held up better than some of my older Vanson's did.
