Great report on Southern Illinois

Steve....thanks for the pm and thus turning me on to this site.

I like your new bike. BD is the fella to learn from. He HAS been everywhere. He has also ridden with everyone in the world at one time or the other. I rode with him one snowy day. I did not make a good impression.

That flowering tree you rode by looks like a Mimosa (Silk) tree. Imported long ago from China. Common decorative tree here in Albuquerque.

BTW I love those pictures from southern Illinois. I attended college at SIU in the mid sixties. I often dream about riding around the gravel roads in the Shawnee Forest.

Ride safe.

I concur, the Mimosa trees are blooming like crazy this time of year. Looks like Big Dog kept Little Pup busy!

Southern Illnois Video

Just remembered--------this video was done in Southern Illinois.
It was one of the first rides on my Husqvarna Terra 650.

Enjoy -------if you haven't already seen it.
Click higher quality if you need too.

BigDog, the guvnor should hire you to promote Illinois... great video! On second thought, your muddy boots would mess up his pretty carpets.

GScrasher, We missed each other at SIU by a couple of years... I was there in the late 60s thru 1970. My wife and I rode our Mosquito Fogger (Yamaha Twin-Jet 100) all over S. Illinois and nearby Missouri, and I know what you mean about the lovely Shawnee Forest. I didn't worry about getting lost-- I figured I could always follow my smoke trail home!

Thanks for the heads-up on the Mimosa tree.

U R welcome Larry. BG told me where to post the ride report... the thread has been mostly ignored for a long time... so BG gets some of the credit. Looks like the thread is getting noticed! And you're right about him being everywhere... I just watched his video and recognized just about every road and trail-- they're mostly right across the Missisip from us!

We passed on William's Hill

You two guys were heading up William's hill Sat and me and my wife was heading down. I was on a 09 dr200se and Pam was on her 85 cb125s. We had just come back from riding the Eagle Valley (River) out of Herod. 35 MPH all the way (speed limit) and you can go all the way to Glen O Jones lake.
