How does it compare to the Squadron? Yes, it's cheaper and sits down the range, but it's also newer. Does it have newer tech? Is the real world performance much down on the Squadron? Which I now see is called Squadron Pro - that 12oz weight appeals on a dirt bike - the XL looks too big and heavy.

Looking at a pair of them to fit in a HDB fairing on a rallye-lite KTM 500 for general rough touring and a 3000km rallye later this year.
Thanks for the question, the Squadron Sport does not have any newer features from the original Squadron. The Squadron Sport has fewer features which allows us to sell it at a much lower retail cost. The Squadron Sport will have aluminum circuit board, compared to the copper on the Squadron Pro, and will save some weight but not a drastic amount. There is noticeable difference in light output between the Sport and Pro ( 3150 Lumens vs. 4300 lumens). Let me know if you need any more information, thanks - Christian

And comparative current draw? They both up to duty on, say, a rally bike?

The Squadron Pro draws 42 watts and the Sport draws 30 watts, so either way you go you are not killing your bikes stator, thanks - Christian

When you guys (Baja Designs) make an LED light w/ a low beam cut off ( does NOT even have to be DOT or CE approved) you'll make a killing.

Hint, hint.......

You are able to use any of our lights with a high/ low beam feature if you use our LED dimmer box and a switch. We currently do not offer a built in low beam that is safe enough for on road use.

I have that, but a dimmer is not the same as a cut off.

To not blind oncoming cars it has to be so dim you cannot see the road properly

If your aimed at the right angle at the road and the dimmer is at 50% you should not have any effect on other drivers. It would be pointless to create a mode into the lights that puts out so little light that you can barely use the light pattern. If you are still blinding people with you low beam (50% dimmerbox) your light is aimed to high. - Christian

But if you point them down then they do not shine properly down the road when the high beam is on

A proper low beam cutoff would require a much larger assembly. Too large to have much place on a dirt bike.

I have seen one good aftermarket LED DOT light, but it's big and I don't want to crap up a vendor thread.

Has anyone tried the Squadron Sports yet and able to offer any kind of real world comparison with the Squadron?

I'm starting to see a little condensation inside my Squadron lens. It's very humid here in Georgia, so I'm wondering if that could be culprit. I can't remember the last time I actually rode in the rain.

What can be done to fix this so it doesn't happen again?

Woa. Do you have the original Squadron or the updated one with XML-2's and the "Moisture Block" on the cord?

I have what Baja Designs sold me last year. A couple months later they released the XL. I hate that I paid several hundred for something BD knew was going to be obsolete (they were obviously preparing to release the XL).

Anyway. I'm interested to see what can be done with this light to prevent the condensation. Sounds like the newer versions don't have this problem.

NOTE: I did NOT cut the power cord or fidget with their connector - it was a simple plug and play installation.

Baja Squadron XL

I was checking to see if you made the retro kit Squadron XL like the one for the KTM's that would work for the Honda CRF450X headlight shell. I saw it listed on the side of one of the Squadron Boxes?

We can repair your light if you purchased directly, PM me and I can get the repair process started for you, thanks - Christian
