Agreed - I like the color too. I'd like to suggest touching up the frame paint and taking care of any mechanical issues first, then ride it a while to get a feel for it aesthetically and mechanically.

White's nice, but it's gotta be right or it won't look as good as the old original paint. And they don't look anywhere near as good without the pinstripes! It seems like it's the little details that make these bikes - and they don't come cheap!

The bike itself will be a winter project so all issues regardless of if they are mechanical or cosmetic will get addressed in the next 3 months. I am lucky enough to have a full shop at my dispense to use. My father builds custom motorcycles and I will be using his shop to restore the bike. He does my paint work for me. I am actually 100% set on white, white on a vintage bike just looks right to me. This is the first bike I am building to fit my taste and I am pretty excited about that. To give you and idea of my fathers work these are 2 of his personal bikes he built.

Triumph Rocket with a sidecar shaped as a 33 ford. Sidecar was designed in his head and built out of aluminum. He hand built every piece for that sidecar.

love it or hate it this is his Boss Hoss 540 big block. Tank/rear fender hand built my him on an English Wheel. Handle bars bent and built by him. Paint work done by him.

Then he decided he just wanted black so he repainted it.

Just to be different, I prefer the blue, I had an R80/7 that colour years ago.

Congratulations.

Looks like you have things well in hand, with your Dad's shop and expertise the \6 will probably be a show piece.

I think the grill on a 33 Ford is worth more than my motorcycle. He does nice paint. Don't forget the pin stripes.

Alrighty then. I'm not one to get between a man and his vision (but I will ask for pics , ).

Enjoy the time in the shop with your dad - it looks like he has a lot to share.

Onward.

The old Slash 2-era "Dover White" is gorgeous... a soft white, and with the proper pinstripes is quite distinctive....

Actually after looking at more bikes in the Dover White you may of just helped me pick the color of my bike. That is beautiful and it really represents the vintage era of the bike. Hmm might have to price out the cost of this paint, I need to figure out a paint code for that.

Looks good on an R90/6, too. It was originally a Ford Mo. Co. colour that BMW used back in the day. Not sure of the code, but I'm sure it's well documented.

Here's the thing, at least from my perspective. If'n that is factory paint, and it appears that it might be, then leave it alone... it'll only be factory once...

I appreciate your thoughts but I am not leaving it that color. I purchased the bike as a project to build to taste so I am going to stay with that route. I plan on keeping this bike for a very long time and I want the bike to feel like my own.
