I like this final drive ratio, easy to get the rig moving from a stop, plenty of power to pass and it will run 70-80 mph all day long, when road and conditions permit I usually run 70-75 on the freeway. This seems to be the sweet spot for making time without burning excess gas, anything over a sustained 75 mph and it really sucks the gasoline.

Howdy Ian, I'll keep the Beemer kinda clean but I am not going to worry about it, just ride the darn thing. Here in the USA, we can have a sidecar on either side of the bike I should have mounted the hack Aussie style and copied your two wheel drive setup.

Dave,
Thanks for the feed back. I have a 1150GS, not the Adv. model and was thinking of going with the 3.00 final drive. But, not having the same trans. gearing as you with the Adv. model I think I will keep on the hunt for a 3.36 final drive. You’ve got the good looking fun machine, Ron |

My bike is NOT the Adventure model its a regular R1150GS. I had the 3.00:1.00 final drive in my bike BEFORE I had the hack installed, in "my" opinion the regular GS even with the 3.00:1.00 final drive is not geared low enough if you want your clutch to last, you want good all around drive-ability, and if you want good quick passing power. I have NO experience with a bike or rig that has the Adventure gearing so I am not qualified to give a competent answer to which final drive ratio would work best with that gear combination.

Its all finished, all the custom wiring is done, I have been trying to find another Uralista to accompany me on a "filming mission" so I can take the "Predator" out and find something totally stupid to play on and try the winch out. In fact I just posted over on Soviet Steeds, this morning that I needed the help of a local Uralista to accomplish this, so far no one has replied, that should tell you something.

Howdy Claude,
It could be that most of them have ridden with me before.

That thing looks like the business. I expect it will work like the business, too. Maybe I should show that to my gs riding brother.
I've read it heaps, but what is 'moab'? Event? Location?

Its not often I participate in hijacking my own thread but as its way off track now what the heck eh. A bunch of Uralistas are gathering to ride in and around Moab Utah from April 21st to April 27th. This non-event is all Dana's fault as he is and yet is not responsible for it.

Ya'all come on over and play with us Yanks, I guarantee you'll have a good time. I spent a month in your fair county last year from July 22 till August 23, put over 9,000 klicks on a Ural whilst there, great time, super folks.
