Maybe inmates would post their stories if only they knew that others would not ridicule them.

Seriously he has a point of who else spends as much time in remote areas off the beaten track.

There seems to be no shortage of people who suffer SMS (small mind syndrome) on adv.

Many (like probably 40 years ago) camping while fishing and sober, my friends and I saw ufo's. Exactly what I said, unidentified objects. As much as I would like to believe in extra terrestrial life, I DO NOT KNOW.

I was looking at the moon, and I noticed a red dot on the surface. II asked my friend to look at the moon and tell me what he saw. Nothing more.

He saw the same red dot, using a clock coordinate system in the same pace as I

We watched for about 10 minutes as it appeared to orbit. Then it was just not there.

That is the best I have. As I said unidentified.

I college I went to a lecture by Dr Harley Rutledge who I can attest was completely nuts. So my skepticism is now much much more intense. I do hope they are out there, they are peaceful, and we do not taste good. Perhaps they are robots, a logical step in evolution from organics. Possibly not interested in carbon life forms or in need or our habitable zone planet

Back to my wine now.

What about the secret south pole base that the Nazis flew their saucers to after WW2? Heck you can even see pics of it on Youtube...

I think this is totally appropriate on an adventure motorcycle forum. People sometimes have strange experiences on their adventures, and this is an inquiry to see who has had this kind.

FWIW the best book I've read on the topic is Messengers of Deception. The author became interested in the UFOs because of an experience he had as an astronomer working at an observatory. Initially he believed UFOs were extra terrestrial, but changed his views after doing more research.

At best, I thought a mod would have bumped it to the basement long before this... but it seem's it has been left here to run for a while...?

Sorry if you've been offended, but if you wanted your discussion on the verification of UFO's to be taken seriously, perhaps you should have opted to posted your query on a forum more aligned to discussing such matters...? Here, unfortunately it was treated with the contemptable humour it probably deserved... even if this is the only ADVRider forum with the word "myth" in it's title...
You sir are an asshole.

I am not "offended" in the least. In my time living I have encountered many people with small minds and a complete lack of the ability to think of more than where their next meal is coming from or what porn they will look at next.

More than half of the threads in THIS forum have nothing to do with "motorcycle riding techniques and practices".

And if you had actually read my initial post (assuming you actually CAN read and retain things for more than the time it takes you to look at the next picture) you would have read that it said that you could FUCK OFF if you are here to ridicule those who may feel comfortable enough to detail an unusual sighting they had.

And your statement that the subject actually deserves to be treated with contemptable humor just reinforces my opinion of you.

Enjoy the little world you live in "Troy"

Again...Mods, please close this thread.

I seen one. Sober. Daytime. Didn't make too much fuss about it. Years go by and then recently I'm watching a UFO program on Discovery channel. In the program is a detailed hand drawn sketch of a craft seen by someone. The exact same craft that I saw years ago. Too strange to be coincidence. We are living proof that life happens. With tens of thousands of gallaxies, made up of billions of stars, can we be so narrow minded and arrogant as to believe we are the only life in existance? Do the math. My only question is, do they ride? Think I'll head over to the thumpers thread for a while.

Given the size of the universe, it's very possible that other lifeforms exist, have existed or will exist. However, it's quite likely that they're as far away form us in time as they are in space so I'd say the likelihood of them stumbling upon us on our little grain of sand known as earth existing in a small sliver of time is quite remote. Unless, of course, they have mastered the ability to cover vast stretches of space and time. This, of course, is conceivable but would require some pretty advanced technology. One would think that a lifeform that advanced could easily hide themselves from us or, if they choose to do so, contact us.

These thoughts fly out the window once a person is face to face with something that seems obviously not from this world.

A person can take their sighting and run it through the filter that is their mind and come up with explanations that are more easily digested by them (giving the sighting religious or demonic overtones).

If one cares to look into the subject more thouroughly, you see that there is a LOT of evidence from very credible sources that a small percentage of unidentified flying objects appear to be inteligently controled craft exhibiting behavior that is not replicated by any known man made craft.

Of course this would open up the possibility of the existance of craft built by humans that you and I (or anyone outside of small groups) will never be privy of the acknowlegement of their existance.

Several have asked for more info on the sighting I had when 13 that created my curiosity on the subject.

I have never written about this so please bear with me:
I was camping in the woods with a small group of boys, ages ranging from 14 to 18 (I was the youngest at 13) One of the members, while sitting around the fire pointed out a very bright reddish light far off in the woods that seemed to be moving, giving the effect of the woods being on fire.
We all (6 people) started through the woods towards it. Upon getting close enough to see detail, we witnessed a blindingly brilliant light that was spherical in shape and maybe 8-10 feet in diameter (hard to be exact as it was very hard to look at directly)
This sphere was below tree top level and slowly moving about between the trees. The shadows it was throwing were crazy. As we came perhaps 50 yards from it it stopped moving away from us and began moving directly towards us. This caused the group to scatter amidst a lot of screaming and yelling to take cover. As we put distance between it and us it turned and began once again moving away.
This cat and mouse routine went on for a good 10 minutes. The object was obviously aware of our presence.
At one point one of the boys broke down and began crying uncontrollably. This triggered a similar reaction in severeal others, sho didn't wish to continue following and retreating any longer.
The boy who initially broke down convinced another to leave with him and go get help.

We were only perhaps 3/4 mile from the city (if anyone knows where Blossom Music Center is in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, this was in the wooded area east of Blossom) so the two boys went and got the first boy's father out of bed (the sighting started at 1am or so)
He returned with his father just in time to see the end. The remaining 4 of us were now following the orb at about a 75-100 yard distance as it weaved in and out of the trees, ocasionally stopping and dipping down near ground level.

Ahead in the direction it was travelling was an old apple orchard that we used to frequent for the apples. The orb emerged into the orchard and floated by the apple trees. When we came out into the orchard, it was the first time we had a clear site of the night sky without tree tops.

We stood at the edge of the woods as the boy and his father came running up. The father had a large D cell maglight with him. We excitedly blurted out to his dad what we ha been doing and seeing and pointed out the object to him (which really wasn't needed as it was so fucking bright you could barely look at it long enough to see any discernable shape)

The father pointed the mag light right at the orb and it suddenly shot off upwards at such a speed, that it left a streak in the sky like someone waving a welding torch.

It then stayed at a high altitude (it was now the size of maybe a M&M candy held at arm's length) and began a very odd zig-zagging pattern. It then stopped and there was a brilliant flash of light. Now there were two objects, the original bright white one and now a solid red light next to it.

Then suddenly the white object streaked once again upwards, dissapearing into the night sky.

The red object wobbled a bit and then slowly fell downwards over the horizon, falling with a kind of side to side motion like a leaf would fall if dropped.

The camping was over. We all went home. I went with Brian and his Dad to their house as his Dad wanted to call someone. He did call the police. Their response? "yeah, we have received several calls about the UFO...what do you want us to do about it?"

Over the course of the next 10 years or so, very few in that group would ever care to talk about it. Many years later I ran into Brian in a bar. He denied it even happened.

This was in 1973

Trying to get back on topic, Im vary skeptical. Honestly I feel some of what is seen is military testing. I mean we had aircraft going Mach5 in the 60s and over half of our budget is spent on "defense".

I was standing outside at about 11 pm talking on the phone with a friend and I had my back to the street, which is about 20 yards away, and all of the sudden I noticed it was extremely bright and I was seeing everything as if it were daylight.

I turned around and there was a basketball size/shape light that had the intensity of light from welding, was about 30 ft in the air right above the street and moved down the street about 20 mph.

There was no sound and it lasted about 10 seconds before the light just vanished.

Have no clue what it was.

I was telling my friend about the experience as it happened and he was amazed as I was.
