Hi, Pat. Good to hear from you, and thanks for the compliments. Stay tuned to this thread and in the next few months, a proposed route will be shared.

Everyone should be aware that on the week of 8/20 SoundRider.com is also putting on a ride in Idaho called Sasquatch that shares some of the route that I'm separately working on. Tom does a great job of putting together these types of rides and it may appeal to some of you. Depending upon my personal schedule, I may be able to participate in the SR event.

Timmer, have you given any thought as to the dates for the ride? I need to think about scheduling vacation time, others might too. Really looking forward to this!!!

Let me throw out the date of Sunday, 7/22 as our start date in Elk City, ID. That should give time for the snow to melt, but all bets are off if the roads are closed and I can't control that aspect.

Again, another alternative is to do the SASQUATCH ride which starts a month later on 8/22. Details for that ride (which doesn't follow what I'm planning) can be found over at http://www.soundrider.com

Sounds good Timmer - penciled in! Do you have a target "finish" date and location?

Thanks, Dorian

The finish will be west of LOLO Pass on Fri/Sat in Kamiah. That date is somewhat flexible as some have indicated interest in a longer run and some shorter. When I nail down the route, we can have further discussion.

For those interested, here's a link to a little history of the LOLO Motorway which was part of the Lewis & Clark Trail. http://www.lewisandclarktrail.org/se...il/journey.htm

Wink Macgruder

Timmer

Check out the Macgruder trip last september by the owner of black dog cyclery in sandpoint idaho...I would send you the link but I am not that computer savy....in short they rode in alot of snow....late july--august is the safest time....just like bear tooth pass....as you know i am flexable on dates, its always nice to support sound riders trip(sasquatch) so maybe possible to do both.....once we get a head count consider Hayden Lake as a good potential stop over....I have lots of room for camping etc plus a great ride around the lake.....keep me posted on the northern WABDR dates if you need or will consider another rider or anyother rider.

September 19, 2011 Magruder/Lolo run. No snow, but some really tbhick misty clouds on the second day. I need to go back and see what I couldn't.

Snow is certainly an issue and last year the snow retention was quite late. If I can't do the ride starting on the 22nd, it'll probably be off for me this year as I have other commitments in August. However, a late August departure might work for me.
