CO adventure riding?

I need some help…

I read a while back about a 4x4 adventure trail in the Southwest side of Colorado. Maybe around the Silverton / Monte Vista area? Supposedly it’s a dirt road that winds through the mountains starting in a small town. Half way through you crossing a high way and eventually ending in another small town. The road is divided into difficulty off road levels. I can’t remember where I read it or what area this trail went through. Anyone know what I’m talking about or where it is? Has anyone ridden this trail before?

There are 2,746 dirt trails in SW Colorado that fit that description. Do you have any additional information?

No, not really. I stumbled into the link somehow and read up on it. It started in a town (located in the SW part of the state IIRC) and twisted through the moutains crossing a town with a highway running through it at the half way point. People would refuel, shop and rest here. The trail continued on to another small town. The website I was reading rated the difficulty of the different sections of trail for 4x4 vehicles. Camping was alowed on the trail too.

I've been doing some searches and found a CRAP load of off road adventures in CO. but none of them are what I remembered seeing. Many of them are Jeep type tours.

There are at LEAST 2,748. Check out Lake City, you'd have a couple of options around there that are like your description. Frankly, you can't go wrong with that whole area (Gunnison/Lake City/Silverton/Ouray/Durango). Rides for all experience levels/bikes -- pavement, gravel and hard core stuff.

finding cool places to ride in colorado is as easy as following these steps

1) find small town
2) ride around small town until you find a dirt road
3) ride on dirt road

Sorry, they just closed down the Buster Hymen trail 7 miles southeast of South Bumfuck, Colorado last November, and that was the 2747th trail that fit his exact description in SW Colorado. My tally was precise and up to date. Please try to keep up! Damn Flatlanders...

Yes, but how many of these have been ridden, photographed and posted in ride reports on this site?

There's still a lot of work to do. We need to help Esteban out - it's too much for one person.
