New wallet holster for the Smith BG380

Picked up a new wallet holster to try with the Smith BG380. It's made by HolsterPro and is a wallet "shoot in holster" design. Spent a little time practicing the draw with it and it works great! It's a leather holster with a foam insert that breaks up the outline of the gun while it's in your pocket, looks just like a wallet. I have another wallet holster that I've used while walking around Seattle etc, but it takes concentration to remove the gun from the holster, the holster wants to come out of your pocket with the gun. With the HolsterPro holster you can quickly draw the gun and holster and be ready to fire if needed.

I'll pack with it a bit and see how I like it, time will tell. Here's a few pictures of the holster.

The Smith BG380 (a great little pack gun!)

The HolsterPro shoot in holster

And a shot of my other wallet holster. This one is thinner and works better for front pocket carry.

Imagine someone demanding your wallet in a dark parking lot and you say, "yes, I'll give it to you right now".

You're going to carry a firearm in your pocket, and the trigger will be uncovered and accessible??

Don't shoot yourself.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) -- A man accidentally shot and killed himself in his car while trying to unbuckle his safety belt, police said.

The 45-year-old man's wife was returning a movie at the Giant Food Store in Harrison Crossing is Spotsylvania County, when he reached down to unbuckle the belt. Somehow, police say, his gun ending up firing a round into his leg.

"There were several children in the vehicle as well ... The victim immediately told his wife that he had shot himself. The gun shot wound was in the area of the victim's hip," police said.

The first deputy arrived minutes after the initial 911 call and with other bystanders administered first aid. The victim was pronounced deceased at Mary Washington Hospital, police said.

The BG has a safety on the back unlike the Rugers....although since it's double action only and has a insanely long/heavy trigger pull that alone would be sufficient for carry. It can easily be drawn with your finger off the trigger as well.

That looks like a pretty sensible carry option. Either that or your hand is huge.

Am I right in thinking that the primary purpose of a wallet holster is more about aidiing in concealment, not preventing AD, right? 2nd purpose being aiding in the draw, and perhaps further down the priority list preventing AD.

A concealed Glock 30 is all you need.

Does any state issue a permit to carry the hyperbolic internet meme of your choice? In other words I want to preempt Honey Badger et al.

The BATF has determined these type of wallet holsters to be AOW: any other weapon. As such, they need to be registered. Some holster manufacturers have contacted the ATF and gotten an exemption for their products. Do you know if this holster has such an exemption letter? Otherwise, it is a Federal felony to possess it without registration.
