Apologies.

Let me rephrase my mail..... I look forward to posting some photos of me throwing my Sertao around some of the great dirt roads in Hokkaido, after the snow melts. Will send photos.

BTW, in order to help find those roads appreciate if anyone can advise a decent headlamp upgrade.

No pics handy of my bike laying down in the mud, although I have a number of those, this is as close as I have handy:

Edit: Found another one from my trip up north:

Hey man. 2013's are all over the place. I actually picked mine up in Indianapolis the second week of September. I have about 600 miles on it and haven't experienced any hot start issues so far. Keeping my fingers crossed that its only a 2012 problem. My wife has a 2012 G650gs that we picked up at the same time. She experienced a hot start issue once, and hasn't since that one time.

Check around the Midwest. I know Louisville has one on the floor right now. Good luck!

QUOTE=Desertbilly;20390756]I've asked my dealer to get me a Sertao. Apparently the 2012's are gone and I'm waiting on a 2013. I'm okay with that as I'm assuming the compression lever will be a non-issue.

But I'm anxious for it to show up. The dealer, who I've bought three other bikes from and trust, says it will be late February or early March before they get a Sertao for me. If anyone sees a 2013 Sertao being delivered in the U.S., I'd be interested in hearing where.[/QUOTE]

As we roll into the second year of the Sertao, I love how all the fear mongering and rumblings about the Rotax engines being assembled in China turned out to be a non issue. I looked at a number of 2007/8 Dakars before buying my Sertao, all the owners wanted $1000 less than a brand new Sertao and they all warned me about how the Sertao engine will fall apart because it was assembled (although they claim made) in China.

Well I intend on rolling over 20,000km on the Sertao this year and havent had any problems (no hot start for me and I got the first Sertao I could get my hands on in 2012). Meanwhile I found 2 of the 3 Dakars still listed for sale with inflated prices - Ha!

I heard all the fear monguring about the chinese assembled engine in the 2009 g650gs. No problems, now with 32,000+ miles.

^^^ Awesome pics robram, I noticed your Sertao is missing the "Sertao" sticker on the "tank", did you peel it off? I actually like the look without it.

I agree, Looks good without the sticker. I don't think I'll 'De-badge' mine for a year or two though, the novelty hasn't warn off yet

TAT Bike?

Anyone considering the Sertao as a viable mount for the Trans-America Trail?

If by GS, you mean the R1200GS, I wasn't aware one had ridden
the entire TAT without taking any of the bypasses around the really
technical sections.
