I would like to make this ride this year. I only have 2 weeks and don't want to scream through all of the scenery, so I would love to ride one way, leave the bike to be crated and shipped from Anchorage to California. Does anyone know someone who could provide this service?

Find somebody to ride it back! When I went, I completed my riding in Alaska and my wife & a friend flew into Anchorage. Wife and I got on a cruise ship, friend got on my moto and we met up a week later in Vancouver, BC. They flew home and I continued on my moto. The hell with that shippin' shit.......help someone else get in on the trip! Worked out great for me! The cost for me to get my moto from Anchorage to Vancouver was $0 and a friend had a great week long trip on my moto!

When I came up with the plan, I called my buddy and told him my moto would be in Anchorage, AK on a certain date and I needed it to be in Vancouver a week later. I asked him if he could make that happen.......all he said, with no hesitation, was "Absolutely!" Really worked out for both of us. I always try to involve my wife in my trips and she doesn't have the flexibility to get that much time off..........so I ride there, she joins me and flys home. I rode from PA and took 7 weeks for the trip........f'in' awesome. Do it anyway you can!

Dang, what a thought! Ride that sucker back! I sure wish this year was something else for me as I would be happy to ride it back for you. But, I'll already be there

I was one of the suckers who didn't get the memo and hauled my tires up. I would never do that again! What a PITA to strap them on the bike every morning. And then having to worry about them taking a walk everytime you stopped someplace to look around. Next time, I will ship my tires or buy them in Fairbanks and save the hassle.

The road conditions on the Dalton hwy can be highly variable so a fresh set of TKC's in Fairbanks is just good insurance. The folks at the Fairbanks Harley BMW dealer are tiptop, just call a month or two ahead of time to make sure the have them but I wager they keep those in stock.
