My backyard and other places part 1
Hello all :)
Whilst I have spent much time reading others ride accounts on this forum I have not added much of my own so I decided that should change. For now I won't be going on any epic RTW trips but then its not all about that is it? Sometimes exploring your own surroundings can be interesting and fun as well... and you don't need a passport, visas or a carnet to do it so here goes. I live in Auckland, New Zealand and down here we are blessed with great countryside and excellent motorcycling roads in great abundance. We are now getting into our summer here after a long, wet and cold winter and if the forecasters are to be believed we are in for a long, dry summer. A couple of sunday morning ago I decided to head out to a little place on the coast called Orere Point. This is on the east coast of southern auckland. A warm but overcast day, quiet roads and plenty of twisties meant I could put the old girl through her paces and let her stretch her legs after a winter of commuting. oooh look, another car on the road... positively crowded :) ![]() Coming into Kawakawa bay ![]() ![]() The Orere war memorial hall. You will find one of these in pretty much every smaller town in New Zealand. ![]() ![]() Orere point. Great swimming on a hot day. ![]() ![]() ![]() I even saw a couple of these...AWWWWW :) ![]() I returned the same way I came so I got to do this bit twice :) ![]() Cheers Tracy
