How come handball isn't more popular in the US?
I mean, it has the Three Main Ingredients:
-it's fast-playing (unlike that futbol snoozefest), -it's high scoring (final scores like 28-25 are the norm), -it has quick reversals (the guys leading by 2 goals 10 minutes ago are 3 goals behind now). Why isn't handball better-known in the USA? |

It's like a slow non-violent hockey so why bother?

In the USA it seems most people like watching sports not playing them..!
I never played handball, but I love playing raquetball. |

LOL. This is a game where "coming from behind" and "reaching around" are illegal moves. I'd say it's pretty much anti-gay.
Conversely, it's a more violent version of basketball (since in basketball you're not allowed to lay hands on your opponent). A regular block in handball (note how what appears to be the back center is skillfully tripping the pivot while simultaneously blocking the opposing center backcourt's shot): More pics: 2010 Euro Championship FRA vs. HUN: |
