For comparison, I looked at ThumperTalk. They have great 2T sections for each brand. But they don't even have a BMW section except their 'Rest Of World Section' for "exotics" (read 'Oddballs'). The guys I know there consider Advrider to be basically a BMW and KTM Dakar bike site for people who live in places they can't ride all year. IMHO, one of the three attractions of Advrider is that there aren't that many bikes for them to really cover so they get deep on a few bikes. Those bikes are, in my opinion, compromise bikes that try to be OK at street and dirt. There aren't really any 2Ts in that category. Nearly all 2Ts are either race street bikes or race dirt bikes. Neither are ideal for multiday rides loaded up with all sorts of crap to stage Ride Report photos.

Perhaps if Advrider had added a 2T section early on they could have built something useful but at this point it will only be a place where people show what else they have in their stable.

Remember that for decades GM didn't make extra cab pickups and Ford didn't make Crewcab pickups? I read somewhere that was by design but perhaps something similar is happening here. ADV only covers a few real dirt bikes (some KTMs and the very best; the XR650R) and ThumperTalk doesn't really cover the behemoth ADV bikes, pre-450 Dakar stuff, or the vintage BMW stuff.

My opinion is that Thumpertalk is pretty focused on the So Cal riding experiences MX Tracks plus Baja, So Cal, and so Nevada where MX style race bikes converted a bit for dez use are trailered. Advrider is pretty focused on the Nor Cal idea of longer distance riding on basically street bikes somewhat modified for limited offroad use that requires a license plate and alot of asphalt but no trailering. I see Advrider in the middle of a spectrum because the real hardcore adventure people are on other sites like The Hubb. The Adv people seem to be trying to do the impossible and blend these two ways of doing things.

If I win the lottery I'll be the first guy on a TZ750 Dual Sport.

Couriosly enough here is a trials section that has it's own traffic, so some two strokers might get their attention, so I believe I can assume that it works,

As trials bikes still are two smokers to now 90% I would have no problem to put the "others" beside them.

I loves me 2-strokes. Current project, 1977 Yamaha DT 400. Complete with grain storage air box!. With 7 pages of banter about needing a 2-T page, looks like we already have it. Keep posting and the thread will carry on. These pics are from last winter. I now have it back together and have been riding it this summer. It's been jetted rich and tires are getting screwed for the ice.

Exactly! Most of,if not all of,the various other 2T forums/sites involve a younger group of enthusiasts that are primarily street oriented (i.e., RZ350/500,Suz RG500,TDR,etc.,etc.). So far , the postings here on this thread reflect a stronger interest towards 60's/70's/and beyond offroad machines of whatever type........Likely posted by (somewhat) older enthusiasts..... It wouldbe good to keep the theme 'casual'-pics by owners,old tests, personal projects,etc. Looks to me like there's already one underway......

They might be scary, but it's what alot of us learned to ride on. Still fun to play with. I ride mine often. Not fast or far, but often.
