MOD Tool Box side rack mounting

I'd also like one of your bash plates.

Could you show a photo of this?
thanks

also, for us Murricans:
More info and pics

Here's what the back looks like:

Two 1/4" carriage bolt holes 125mm (4.92") apart.

To mount it on our skid plate the carriage bolts run through the upper slots and into the tool box. Then you tighten them on the inside. 100% secure.

You could just flip them around to mount to other skid plates or something else...like the side rack.

Here are some pics of it mounted inside the rack.
I just threw this together quickly on my SW-Motech racks:
(caution poor pics; it's dark out so these are in the dark parking garage and my bike is a little dirty from the ride Saturday!)

The clean parts are the side racks and the Tool Box

and from the back:

Absolutely lot's of clearance with this set up in all directions. Fits rather well actually. This side rack sits fairly wide so the chainguard has lot's of room and would barely come up high enough anyhow. The double bend corners end up to the inside which is perfect since there are no sharp edges to hit the tank and even more clearance down below.
Keen eye's will notice I've started cutting out the centre strip on the 140 K60. Needless to say it doesn't grip like the old version. So now it will be the same. I run the 140 cause it has a smaller centre strip, cut knobs to the side where the 150 does not and slightly smaller lugs that should work better in dirt.

Some pics Frostbit sent me long ago (2 years?) with the Tool Box mounted inside Jesse racks. I believe he welded something in to bolt it too and these are really small pics so it's hard to tell:

The door is open and the bag with tools is sticking out in case it's confusing

Thanks for the pics Frostbit...(where are you haven't seen you for ages?)

Fire away if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Dave

What's happening with the toolbox at this point? Any estimates on release date?

Dan

Ahh yes thanks for the poke!!

They are just past mid-way through production now...late of course.

After powder coat (which takes a week) I expect they should be ready in about 2 1/2 weeks.

I'll have an update shortly on more details...

Thanks!

Dave

Hey everyone next update...

The first half of the first run is off to powder coating on Monday!! (that should cover all the initial orders)

That leaves final assembly etc. after they're back so they should be ready to ship Mar. 29th. (barring any catastrophes)

Thanks!!

Dave

Excellent! This will complete my MOD collection as I currently have a skid plate, side stand foot and rear rack.

Now I just need my MOD Fan-boy T-Shirt.

Hooked up with Dave yesterday and he is working hard on the tool boxes for everyone.
I was grabbing some parts he brought me for my skid plate install and I must say, unbelievable service.
Thanks Dave!
Look forward to picking up a tool box soon.

Hey HeadinSouth,

Thanks, glad we got it all going!

Tool Box News:

We've been refining the mounting hardware for the tool boxes too.

It comes with a 1/4" carriage bolts, washers, Nyloc nuts (all stainless of course) and rubber sealing washers, one side is stainless and the other rubber to seal it.

The sealing washer goes on the outside between the skid plate and tool box with the rubber side against the Tool Box. That way it's all well sealed from water getting in (except for maybe Motoriley and the deep sea crew ).

The carriage bolt mounts in from the back of the skid plate in the upper slots (prevented them from turning) and the nuts are inside the tool box (yes it's a pain but only once...well actually twice).
1. 100% secure
2. If your skid plate get hit hard enough to move it/break the bracket there are no sharp edges (or nuts sticking out in this case) to do any damage -the headers are right there.

This hardware can be flipped around for use with other skid plates or mounted in other places (side racks). The back of the tool box has square holes to hold the carriage bolts from turning.

Because the Tool Box is so well sealed condensation can be a problem so we're tossing in a desiccant pack (silica gel) for each tool box.

More to come...

Thanks,

Dave
