6,700 Miles Solo to Baja, MX - 2011
I did not plan on doing a RR for this ride. I did not fully document the ride with pictures, even though I took almost 400. But, since this seemed like the best way to share the pictures with family and friends, I will share what I have with a few words along the way.
This is my first trip to Baja. I rode from Mississippi to Baja and back on the KLR. In total the ride was over 6,700 miles with over 3,000 miles ridden in Baja. There was well over 1,000 miles of sand/dirt/gravel. I can tell you up front that I had a great time and have already set a date for a return trip next year!

I stopped in Sulfur Springs, TX to visit a friend. This is a Road Runner that has been roosting on her back porch for two years. It is not a very good picture because it was almost dark and I could not hold the camera steady enough.

I stayed the next night in Dallas, TX and visited with Tracy. She is reeeeeealy looking pregnant! Everything is going great and her daughter is due February 18.
I stayed the next night in Van Horn, TX and rode well over 700 miles the next day to Gila Bend, AZ. I did not take another picture till I got to Baja.

That $5.99 chair not only made the entire trip. it also completed the Canada/Alaska trip the Summer and the Fall trips to Colorado and the Northeast. It has almost 30,000 miles on it! Not for sure how much butt time it has! ![]() It is much more comfortable than most camping tables and many motel chairs.

baja
I'm looking at this Donnie. Having a ball researching for my Feb. trip to baja. Did the valves on the KLR yesterday. Don't think the dealer did em. All on minimum clearance. Can't wait to get started on the baja bike, 05 Dr650. Still not sure about putting Ricor on it too. Went thru 3 dealers to get shims. The 4th, Gateway BMW in St.lois had em. Finish up the KLR today. Put tank and plastic back on. Did the drill out slide too. Have to do the fuel pump on the gs too. May do the 85 Olds pump. Vent tube is plugged. Huge vacuum when I open cap to gas up. Just have 3 more bikes to work on. Send in seat to Rick Mayer next month for the Wr250. peace Looked at the Huskies at beemer dealer but I'm going to trick out the WR before I change partners. more peace

Hey Donnie,
Glad you decided to post this up. My wife was asking if I had seen anything new from you. We are big fans of your past reports. Hope the Holidays treat you well. Be safe Michael & Tami

Yes it was! I was expecting higher prices, but I guess the coverage of Drug crimes in Mexico has been tough on the hotel business as well as many others.
