According to my map there was an alternative route back to the highway. Maybe it is this way.

The road got much much worse, so I turned around. I did manage a zero speed tip over when the front tire went to the wrong side of a bolder!

I came upon an old man disposing of fish entrails that told me where the road was, so off I went.

So this is the way!

No, it hit the creek and got worse than the other road/path. So again I turned around. There were 4 to 6 inch plastic water lines in the area and as I was coming down the road I found my self in a "V". So I turned sharply to the left and hit the gas! The front wheel popped right over the hose, but the back wheel didn't! Another fall, but this one was a 6 or 7 mph fall. Nothing hurt, but the loaded motorcycle had gotten heavier since the last time I picked it up, of course that was less than 30 minutes ago! Anyway, time to back track to the highway.

Back tracking is not so bad.

Before getting to the highway, I stopped to check on a truck that was having problems, but he already had help on the way.

I headed for Ciudad Constitution. I took a bunch of paths getting there and actually come upon some farm land that was fenced in. I just road across the desert till I come to a path I could follow. I could see the main road on my GPS and knew that I was headed in the correct direction. None of these gravel/dirt/sand roads are in my GPS, but I just head in the direction that I want to go, keeping and eye on the main road and my fuel range.

AS much traveling as I have done in Mexico and as many pictures as I have seen on ADV, this is my first encounter with one of these.

Well, the water didn't get hot, but it was a little better than cold.

Headed toward the coast and maybe a short cut to Punta San Isidro. My first water crossing. I have crosses ands rode i n many creeks, but this is the first one that actually had water.

I rode through a lot of this.

You ride through all this strata with the road bed color changing as you go.

Is the last group of pictures on the road that goes all the way to the sea? Judging from the GPS, I was within 10 miles or so, but could not find a route to the ocean. None of the roads were in my GPS, so I kept following the "main" trail until it ended at a house.

I back tracked for a ways and took another road headed in the direction of La Paz. I stopped at San Luis Gonzaga for a coke and ask about the direction to La Fortuna. I was told that it was in the opposite direction than the map said by two different people!

I couldn't find a decent road going in the direction I came from other than the road that I came in on, so I found a road going in the direction the map said and took my chances. I was down to a half tank of gas!

A real water crossing!
