Its worth $8k if somebody pays that for it. The market always determines the value. The seller only determines the asking price and what he will part with something for. Greed doesn't enter this picture.

That's a hoot - I bought a '95 R100GS from them in '07 with 23k miles for $5,500.00

Go give Dean or the chicken man a kick in the ass

That's a borderline WTF.

- "CYLINDERS HONED" - honed Nikasil cylinders? at 65K miles? why?
- "NEW CYLINDER BASE GASKETS" - why the heck did they install cylinder base gaskets? Reduce compression? Reduce performance? They're idjits? Why?
- "NEW OIL FILTER AND 20W50" - for this price oil changes should be free for the next 20K miles
- "TOURATECH" DECALS - deduct $1K off the top

Geeze, the old multi-line dealer ship in Abq (15 years ago) was more on top of airheads than this place seems to be.

I'd be much more inclined to buy this one at $4,900:
R100GS - Need purchase advise on 93 PD

I'm doing a frame up rebuild/upgrade on a '92 GS for about $4K. Sat outside for 7 years near the ocean. Only has 26K verified miles and will be like new when done.

These guys must have priced theirs with a 100% markup hoping to sell at 25% off. Who ever wrote the add sure doesn't know the bike..they just listed parts off the repair order..and that's dangerous and expensive to a new buyer.

Come on guys!

Those guys are dealers and they know they have a desirable bike that someones gonna want at that price.

IIRC, there was a thread last year about some guy who was rebuilding those bikes and asking (And getting!) more $$$$ than that!

Wow,

All that money for that bike... There really is a fool.

To buy a bike thats 20 years old, not stock, repainted in a dubious color scheme from a dealer that by the looks of their add could care less about the bike is a plain fool.

But as an owner of a mostly stock 91 R100GS, I hope they get that much for it. It will only make my bike worth more.

If that bike had a decent stock paint scheme and trustworthy service records it might be worth $5,000 as is it's real value is less then $4,000

I usually check the BMW internet site to see what I think of as the High end for used airheads: http://marketplace.ibmwr.org/ads/rabs

Seems to me if you bought the R80 ST for $2,500 it would take less than $5,500 to have it rebuilt and with no question marks as to the quality of the work- what was done and why etc.

Airhead GSs will be $8K before we know it (just look at what people are paying for /2s and /5s) I don' think they are quite there yet.

I am one who loves it that the /5 is starting to gain popularity and going up in worth as mine is nice and I would love it if it got to anywhere near 8K.
