Good day today. Met up with jdfog2 for coffee in Danville today as he started his quest to photo each county courthouse in Indiana. Only got one shot of him getting ready to head out after coffee and you won't be able to recognize him after seeing it.

My brother showed up unexpectedly while Jay and I were talking and we managed to talk long enough to throw Jay off schedule.

After Jay took off I got a text from another ADV'er from Danville (FalconPower01) asking if I was out riding. He rolled up a bit later and we headed out to find the grave of a buffalo soldier somewhere near North Salem. Never did find it, but we did manage to get a bit lost and nearly run my bike out of gas. I failed to get a picture of Brian, but I did get one of our bikes out in the middle of nowhere.

Hendricks County decided to repair some of the county roads and topcoat them with "chip and seal." Basically, they lay down a coat of tar and pour gravel on top. Used pretty big gravel and the SV, while doing okay, was a bit nervous--as was the rider. Brian's DR650 seemed quite happy in the stuff, but we bailed out of several roads due to the stuff. Just off one of the corners I spotted this and made him stop so I could get pictures, 'cause who doesn't love abandoned buildings?

This was across the road...spent a lot of time on haywagons bailing hay.

So, not many pictures, but a great day of meeting up with a couple of ADV'ers and doing a bit of riding.

Any of the rest of you in the area...feel free!

That last pic is a neat contrast of old and new.

A traditional hay wagon - which might not be that old but the style has been around since tractors - contrasted with a solar fence charger.

Nice pics!

I didn't even see the solar panel!

As for the picture--I hear his brother is the tough one!

Good to see you're out making some interesting trips around the area. The picture of the wagon brings back many memories. Stacked a lot of hay on them many years ago. As always,,,,,love the pics and narrative. Keep it up there neighbor. Been riding back and forth to the office a lot of late but not much else. Going to the Guzzi gathering next weekend if all goes well.
Stay safe there man and keep posting.

Nice to hear from you, Ken. Been having a lot of fun riding this summer and the weather has been so much better than last year!

Sorry to hear you are stuck commuting-but as I recall, the commute this summer is a good bit safer than last summer's. We now have a Guzzi dealer near Terre Haute and I keep meaning to ride over and look at them. I can afford the ride over and the looking part.

Hope your plans for the Guzzi meet work out. Bet that'd be a lot of fun.

Someone say "Guzzi?!"

I didn't even read the context but count me IN!

Seriously though, Guzzis are very cool.

I am especially a Stelvio fan but I like them all. One of my dad's friends had one when I was a kid and took me on a lot of rides (My dad had a Honda 550 Four, not a very good "two up" ride - he was more comfy if I rode with his friend)

Joel - I see they are having a sale. I can afford the "zero down" part. It's just the payments after that I don't have any desire for.

I've always heard, "you don't choose a Guzzi, the Guzzi chooses you." So far I'm a wallflower in the Guzzi dance.

Blacktruck rides a Norge. Looks like a lot of bike.

Holler when you want to go for a wander!

Lots of interesting sights out there.

Have you found the covered bridge in Darlington?

That seems to be the one! I was going to look on Google, but that takes all the challenge out of it.

I didn't even know Darlington existed let alone a covered bridge, so that would be a revelation as well.

Keep meaning to get in touch with you, but I always figure that if I'm out riding you are likely out as well.

Still riding the KLR?

BWRINGER,

We talked before a year or more ago. How you doing?

Joel tells me you are quite the motorcycle mechanic !

I have an early 90s DR 650 that I can't get started. Going to try one more thing this weekend but then may be looking to hire your services if you have any available time in the next couple of months. (I am almost positive its a carb issue)

The bridge on the map, I FOUND IT ! I must say this is a dual sport ride only to get to the places I went to today. But Joel you can do it :).

Getting there it was miles and miles of.

It was tons of fun!, once I got there I did see this :(

On the way back I saw !

Road about 30 more miles out and found this long rocky road that has many trails that lead off road. I think we should get a grp of guys and ride them !

On that rocky road.

CHOO CHOO

It would be a nice ride if we can get a grp together.

Sorry for stealing thread Joel!!!

No problem, Falconpunch01. Looks like a great ride--on your bike. Pretty sure that ain't SV territory. Need a DR or KLR of my own apparently. :)

Also, not the bridge I took a picture of--it was still open for traffic. The mystery deepens.
