At the moment I am free, so I am going to try and make this my first Dual Sport ride on my DR 200 so you hopefully won't be the only one.

Dat's da one. Thanks!!!

This crossing of Indian Creek, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Ohio River will likely be a part of a more challenging gravel route led by someone who doesn't want to ride the paved route from Paoli to Mauckport. It's easily bypassed, though so don't let it scare you off of taking the gravel route. I'd guess that taking the route less paved will take riders past the "shoe tree" and through the Harrison-Crawford State forest. The gravel road along the river between New Amsterdam and Mauckport is pretty cool, too.

Yeah, it's a concrete ford. The force of the water was incredibly strong and it was really scary going across. Somebody could have been killed that day--use your head when you come across stuff like this.

If your bike weighs more than 400lbs. You might not make it.

Wasn't paved when I was last down there 2 summers ago. Rode it on my old ZRX so you know it was passable on a street bike. Hope they left it that way, no reason to pave it.

I'm hoping to make this event, keeping an eye on this thread. Will probably be on a street bike, but may have a DS by then and then I can join in all the fun.

I'm getting excited. The ol' GS falls a lot (maybe partly due to me ) but should be fun

We'll have an all paved route and one with some gravel sections. The gravel sections aren't that long and are pretty easy. Just trying to make it interesting for everyone.

Route info is on threads 1, 4, 12, 36, 53, 57, 69 and 80. Largely this ride is going to be on pavement and as it stands right now the Indiana segment from Paoli to the river is all paved backroads. mbabc says the Kentucky segment is mostly paved with a few bypassable gravel segments so guys on street bikes won't have any problem bypassing it and staying on pavement.

A big part of this ride is getting to the start and back from your home base so unless you live near Paoli you'll likely get in a full day of riding both days.
