Wooden, did you wade in to get this shot?
Thanks, I didn't have to wade in just hiked down the short trail. I was contemplating putting the bike out on the falls but it looked a little too risky.

I'm really surprised I didn't get Bruced on this one. Pic was taken about 1pm early on in the ride but I just got home.

Woodenviens, did I see you on Hwy 8 just south of Stuart, VA? I had a buddy on a white 800GS with me.

You did, and I did catch your wave. Your buddy was on a white bike with a little blue to it as I recall. Wish I could have seen that Husky in Madison Mayodan. Good to see you made to the only town in the world with that name (Mayodan). Where to now?

Drop

This sign is at the end of Rye Cove Rd in Patrick Co. VA. Up until this point the road is paved but if you've got good dual sport tires you can keep going and it will connect to Trot Valley Rd on the other side. If you have the right bike, tires, and a little bit of off road handling skills you will really enjoy the chance to keep going.

Grab

Lots of wildlife in this area, seen three deer and about about a dozen wild turkey along the Rye Cove Creek Rd. There was a tractor trailer driver backing his rig out of this road after realizing he couldn't take it

Glad to see you made good use of the break in the weather. Did you keep going? On googlemaps it shows that the roads do not connect but my Garmin shows they do. That's where I was headed when I passed you on Friday.

With the recent rains we have had I didn't chance it. I did however ride up to the top of the hill and seen several small creeks running over the road so I turned around, maybe another day.

Tag #240

Didn't have time to go after a tag so I'll have to use this file tag. Located beside the NC-North-Central-Tag-A-Rama border. The church bares the same name as where the Andy Griffith show was supposedly filmed at. The road also has that same name. This is when my bike still had 30 day tags back in April

I had the camera set to take a panoramic picture. When I got to the 'End of State Maintenance" sign the area around it looked like it was deserving of being in the grab as well.

I'll bet it was pretty greasy dropping down the other side to Trot Valley, given the rain recently. I have slid down there on my old DL650 with the stock Trailwings a couple of times - kinda makes it a bit of a challenge. A proper dirt-bike and knobbies would be a walk in the park.

I did it last Friday after a few days of rain and while wet it was totally doable. Keep in mind I do have an off road background and was running Shinko 700's but it's pretty easy to me. I've had an inexperienced KLR rider and an experienced BMW 800GS follow me on two different occasions when it was wet.

Any chance one of you friendly types would be willing to run down/up/over/whatever to Mocksville to look at a bike for me?
I'd rather someone local (or at least with a good gas mileage bike) could take a gander before I drive there to pick it up?
It's been down, but damage looks mostly repaired/cosmetic and the price is right...

It does need a chain, but I can buy a chain..
