Hope this doesn't stay a 4 player game... I might have to go after this one after work, it's been standing too long!

Feel fine. However doctor has reccomended against riding for a while, and wife (and RN) agrees. If I decide to ride, I would probably end up with flat tires on both bikes.

One of the site’s most historic moments occurred during the Civil War only a week before Gen. Robert E. Lee’s April 9, 1865 surrender at Appomattox. A detachment of Union Gen. George Stoneman’s Raiders came through Surry County April 1-2 and rode up to this Tavern, where Nancy , the wife of the proprietor, sat on the porch churning butter. When she refused to answer an officer’s questions, he threatened to take her son Jasper, who was by her side. Armed only with a mother’s iron will, Nancy finally spoke. She told the officer, “You’ll play the devil,” and he left her and her son alone. On June 5, 2007, the North Carolina Civil War Trails Program erected a permanent marker in front of the Tavern.

..yeah .. google gives you the standard "approx." address .. but the house is easily visible using street view and one guys Flicker photos confirm the pic you posted up of the trail marker also ..

.. good to see the work that has been done since the google-cam came through .. the house looks really good now (in your shot) ..

.. neat site .. and the google search revealed a wealth of similar sites in my home county also .. lol ..

.. and the wife (bless her) just took the kids to her moms (yeah team) .. and the wife will be at work until the late hours (I'd try and pout, but it would be unconvincing) .. so now all I need to do is get off my arse and swap out that rear tube (to much kid-time yesterday to accomplish the task .. let's face it, really kewl Christmas toys were begging to be played with) ..

I had planned on tagging the old courthouse but it the place is so run down and is a residence.
Either way there are some fun roads. I made it to your tag and the new one back home without any main road for more then a mile or so.
I was planning to pick up the NCTOR but I had left my GPS plugged up and it killed my 7 year old battery. So I did not want to shut her down yesterday.

Sent from RevBill's iPhone using Tapatalk .. Ride Blessed y'all ..

Edit ..

Tag #007 - Mark York Tavern on Rockford Road in Dobson, NC .. that whole small town in one historical site .. absolutely amazing how many pre-Civil War buildings one right after another .. and I'd bet a bunch of them are RevWar era .. I wish I had gotten there earlier so I could have putted around the town and taken some more pics ..

Here are a few more shots of the York Tavern ..
