Flag Day Ride

So, the April Fools Ride is just a bunch of fond memories. Less than one week ago BigDog, RideMoore, Kevin, Honz and I were heading for the Arkansas Ozarks. We had such a good time, I knew that I had to go back -- and soon!

Then, eureka, it hit me... what better way to celebrate Flag Day than riding out to the beautiful Arkansas Ozarks! This time to 'Haw Creek Falls Campgrounds'. It's just West of Sand Gap, AR on route 123. This place is surrounded by roads with little squiggly lines and is smack dab in the middle of another wilderness area. (Plenty of creek crossings too! )

I'm doin' it again!

When: Friday, June 10th thru 12th.
Where: Haw Creek Falls Campgrounds
Starts: Friday, June 10th, 8:00 AM, Bixby, MO at the Caboose Restaurant on Highway 32.

From Google tourist info:
***Bixby at the junction of Highways 32 and 49, provides limited services for tourists. Privately-owned log cabin museum, antiques/general store, picturesque caboose restaurant.***

See what you'll be missing if you don't make it:

Okay, who's in?

Just be sure to do the "T" mod and you should be fine.

I won't be able to go, that's the Ercoupe Fly-in weekend. I will be heading to Minden, Nebraska for that.

TooTall,

Welcome aboard! Our last ride we had a klr and an f650. They did just fine. The rule is you wait at the next turn for the rider behind you. That works well. Hope you can make it.

Pilot, Sorry you can't make it. I looked at the MOA rally schedule and saw only the Iowa rally that weekend. Thought I picked a good one.

Man, I don't have any weekends left this summer. May is almost full. April is full. How do working people ever have time to work? I don't have an unscheduled weekend from Memorial Day til the end of October. As far as MOA stuff, I'm only going to our KC club's stuff and the national. Everything else is ADV except the fly-in. I'm even mixing two. I'm flying to Maine for the End Of The World gig. I don't know if I will even have a bike to ride to Chain's next weekend. The KLR is down and I kind of dinged the GS last weekend.

Add to this list the fact that I am basicly lazy, and you can see why I feel over worked. Well, that's not the right word for it, but maybe schedule overload. The fact that I missed going south this winter has me in a weird state of mind. I get to chill there, not doing anything if I don't feel like it.

Hmmmmm, I guess that's not so much different from here.

Pilot,

That's a pretty sad song there. Where is that smiley...Oh, here it is.
I feel for ya guy.

Chains is a little iffy for me too. I owe my gf a ride and I'm not sure if I can get her to go up there and camp. I'm working on it...

Slider, TooTall. I'm already counting the days.

If you make it over toward Mountain Home you will find me doing the backstroke in Lake Norfork that weekend. Slider/TooTall if any of the GS riders break off a nice piece trying to keep up with you guys drop it off at Dock D slip 76 of Howard Cove. I need a new anchor.

Yard dog,

Is that an invitation for us to go for a boat ride? Should I bring my speedos and tanning oil? Is there a party cove on that lake your talking about?

It is much more family oriented than Lake of the Ozarks, much less crowded too.

Bubba Dog doesn't take kindly to people riding in HIS boat. Slider and TooTall can testify that he is bigger than me. I'd rather go riding with you guys but I promised the family I would be there for that weekend. If you get over that way before heading back to St. Louis have a look around. I won't be coming home until Monday noon. If you go across the lake headed North on Highway 101 and look down to your left you will see me anchored out. There is a remnant of the old road on the North end of the bridge that will take you right down to the waters edge. I dock at the 101 boat dock 3 miles North of the bridge turn right at the 101 grocery store. Nice place to take a dip before that 250 mile run home and room to camp. Snorkel A lot of good it did me. Looks like we've got a nice group so far.

Carboncat, I'm jones'n for a 650 also. If the people around me would just stop buying different bikes, I'd be fine with what I've got.
