Jonah's electricals

I'm devastated even by the potential news that Jonah might be out due to electrical issues. The first thing that came to mind was the ASO technicians working on his Iritrac. There was a part of my brain thinking that they'd caused a short somewhere and now our boy J was getting the short end. I then turned to positive thoughts that he could somehow get it fixed or get towed back to the bivy. Deadly's message that he might be coming back on the sweep is killing me!

Hanging in with crossed digits for Jonah.

here's a dumb question, I've ridden almost 40K miles down here on the SE and have been running the low octane map for most of it.

Do they modify the race bikes for the lower quality fuel?

It is not just the ambient heat, but the mechanical heat as well that is causing the fuel to vapor. Hard to dissipate it all in those conditions while working the bike hard in the dunes.

I believe Pal is 7th on the day, 8th overall. New Visser site is http://dakartracking.nl if the old one is not updating correctly (haven't checked).

From dakar.com

070 Manuel Jamett drops out

The biker crashed on the special stage after 206 kilometres and is being looked after by the rally organiser's teams. He has fractured his toes and has decided to withdraw from the race.

Yes, that was a big reason why Jonah went with it.
