Can somebody post or PM me a wiring diagram? Or just a description...

we'd have to confirm with the riders, but in one of Ned's rallyradio call-ins, he mentioned that he got an okay from ASO to have his iPhone with him, he's posted to this thread at least once so far while on a liaison stage. I'd assume that they're supposed to have them powered off during the special stages; ned's been listening to books on tape from his iPhone on the long liaisons.

BTW - where exactly is the "Big blue button of submission"? I've looked t the control panels of the bikes, but can't see anything obvious. Is it located on a PLB that the rider carries on his/her person?

Not on his person. It's on the Iritrack, installed on the bike. It's a GPS locator and sattellite comm system. The blue button is "Phone" and I don't think it's surrender. The red one "alarm" should be.

The Iritrack:

On the left, behind the fairing here on Despres bike

Electrical issues

Thanks beaney, that gives an idea.
Do you do your own wiring?
What fails (generally)?

Thanks a lot guys I feel better now

Just found out the place we're staying next week on vacation has no internet.

Im going to Freak. Out.

Going to have to use the Blackberry from Saturday on... What are Troy's reg's on switching vehicles mid-race? Do I get some kind of compensatory ruling due to the fabulously tiny screen and slow refresh? oh god, dont say no service :howl

Just caught up, I haven't seem any footage from today, and it sounds like I'm missing out... If anyone has any video links please post them..

I agree that Coma will now unleash the beast (and the mustachio minions) and tomorrow we will see some great action...

Of the 25 frontrunners, 11 riders miss 2 wp - possible 40 mins penalty!!!

From Pal Anders Ullevalseters live update;
http://dakar.no/no/Live-updates/-/286/44

Ann Gry is saying that PA says that of the 25 riders in front, 11 of them have lost 2 waypoints today, and that he is amongst them. These riders are likely to get a penalty of 40 mins. He says he will complain if he is penalized, because he was within the required 90 m when he passed, wich is the limit of distance you are allowed to be off a waypoint.

Other than that, PA is rather pleased with the stage. He knew it was going to be tough. PA also thought that this special might be the toughest one for him in the rally. So now it's only to look onwards!!

There will be some changes on the leaderboard today, I'm afraid.
Wonder who all the riders are?

Minor penalties only if 205 takes place as a result
I have been jumping between OS and iOS for the last 3 days depending on location.
I hope they have 3G where you are going.
