Over the last few years, I have made it a goal of mine to get to every Ky state park or state historical site and take a picture of it and my bike. So far, I have gotten to everyone east of I-65, and a few on the west side as well. It has taken me down some real back roads of Ky that otherwise I would have probably never been on. Ky is really a very diverse and beautiful state to ride in. I will be trying to get to the rest of them this year. Many of the places on this thread I've been to, I'm sure I will pass by the others someday.

This thread is great. Nice to see so many Kentuckians on here. Even though the winter's been mild so far I haven't been able to get out much on the bike. Glad somebody is.
Hopefully we can meet up some this year for rides! Derek |

It was really nice on Sunday afternoon. Temps in the 50's. I rode down to the Salt River crossing on Rice Road in Anderson county. If you decide to cross here the bottom is slick as snot.
![]() I rode down into Mercer county. I have been passing by this old house for several years. It has gradually run down. Looks like it is in it's final days. What a shame. ![]() Remains of an old bridge across the Salt River ![]() Ballard Road deep in Mercer county. Lots of cedar and some nice sweepers

Down home.....
Grew up between Bloomfield and Bardstown........got a chuckle when I saw the pic of the old post office in Fairfield. My mama and daddy still live down there on the old bloomfield road. The rest of my family lives over in Washington County in Willisburg. I think this thread has convinced me ride my bike down and disappear for a few days.....thanks for the thread......lots of memories. Subscribed!

Although most of my kin in that area is gone now and all I have left in the Danville area is a cousin and his son/grandson as mentioned I'm planning to take a week in the near future and go down that way. Let me know when you're headed down.

I'm almost certain this was taken just outside of Dunville, and I would've been heading east when I snapped it.

That's heading north on 127 about three miles north of Dunnville. The road off to the east in the picture is 501 going over to 910. That intersection is a real mess during the "World's Longest Yard sale".

Can't believe how many KY riders have responded
I've been reading this forum for a long time but was pretty interested in this ride report because there just seems to be such an absence of population of ADV riders around here and around KY in general. I was amazed at the response by you guys. I've been trying to find dirt to ride, other than LBL, by riding around Lincoln County, without any real luck. I have found some pretty narrow goat path/like roads and have really enjoyed trying to confound my GPS. It gets pretty interesting, riding by myself.
I have tried to get together with some of the riders from IN, and that has been fun, but quite a distance to go to gather and then ride for a day or two, and then ride home, like I did last year for the Hoosier National Forest gathering. I have also met with some dirt riders to get in over my head real fast, on my VStrom, in the dirt over near Corbin. Great to see that there are other ADV riders out there. I am encouraged.

Have you ever rode over around McKee in the STree/Turkey Foot area of the Daniel Boone National Forest? From Crab Orchard it's not that far.
There are a lot of nice F/S roads that you can ride on a VStrom. When the weather improves a little I will try an lead a big bike ride over in that area and also up to the Red Bird District near Manchester. |

I noticed on the Google map that U. S. 150 has a bypass around Crab Orchard now. How long has that been there? I haven't been across there in awhile but that used to be my route to go to the DBNF to ride.
At this point I'm hoping for a week or extended weekend around March 10-16 to come down and do a little exploring.
