@vfr870 i ride a klr. what makes you think i could even afford their cover charge?

back about 2.5 hours ago.

cyclejohn and hitmanlol were waiting at the start when i got there. good to see john again and pleasure meeting anton for the first time. we set off immediately and i proceeded to get us off route as soon as we got on the other side of the GWB. in short time i decided that my bike was too heavy for the ride and chose to jettison a part i thought was not needed.

there was one reroute due to a bridge missing. a bit more riding and hitmanlol broke off and headed home, but before we got to what i thought was the good stuff. less city and more back road. john and i soon found ourselves on the backside of Silver Lake which was more of a jeep trail that we did 3/4 of but eventually back tracked after each of us fell. then when we reached the end of the first leg. we decided to go with my preplanned back track plan. we had made it up to Mountain Road where i was not sure if it went all the way through to the back side of Harriman State Park. Google said yes, garmin said no. What we found is that Mountain Road turns into Mountain Goat Trail. We went up it maybe a mile. Neither of us were feeling it so we turned around. When we got back to the main road john broke off and headed home. he had a 2 hour commute ahead of him.
I went off to finish the second leg/main route. I did not make it up to explore the area around Cranberry Lake. Ran into this about 3/4th into it. So i called it a night.

The area i was headed for may turn out to be like Mountain Road, Jeep trailish. It also shows up on Google, but not Garmin.

So when i got close to home it was dawn and i really liked the way the Freedom Tower was framed in the morning light so i snapped some pics of it.

When i got home i realized i had proof of my off. Lame i know.

I enjoyed meeting and riding with you guys, but I don't think I'll ever get used to riding in Manhattan.Nice roads in the northern part of NJ, but I wasn't to keen on the "goat trails" in the middle of the night. I should have taken some pics of the road when I dropped the bike. I only have a couple pics from the ride:

Roy somewhere near Rt 17 (not quite sure where)

Two KLRs
Got back to Philly at 5:05. Thanks for a fun night

couple go arounds due to closed park roads and snobby ass people having private roads. just got back. stopped for the Big Apple Tag and the hardware store. that rock island came out clear. too bad you didn't try one of the other that looked like it had a house on it.

only 1 harley at the ear when i got there. him or his bike didn't look ready for any kind of adventure.

beautiful weather again, mid 70's to high 60's. no precpitation. great route except i do not recommend 1 from trenton into philly. nothing but badly timed lights. although the bakery i passed smelled wonderful.

stopped first at steaks on south,

had me one wiz without.

then a quick 10 min ride later n genos won the mental coin flip. one provolone without.

honestly i think i made a bad choice. not chipped and flavorless. when i ordered they had some meat paired with buns sitting there. they literally threw a piece of cheese on it and handed it to me. should've went to pats. originally i had planned on all 3 but i was a bit full after the second one. barely had finished the second one and cyclejohn pulls up. we BS'd a bit and then he took me on the nickel tour down by the river.

home by 9 in time to walk the dogs.

Roy-- It was nice meeting up with you in Philly. Here are a few crappy cell phone pics from your late night visit.

Geno's Steaks

Roy and KLR at Geno's. The place looks deserted, but people are stopping for a cheesesteak 24/7.

Roy does the obligatory "Rocky" pose at the "Rocky" statue in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art

(We didn't run up the steps).
