GS Exhaust guard question

Hi All,
Does anybody have a picture (or can you describe) what the screw/nut that holds the exhaust guard to the exhaust looks like on a 90's GS? I bought a '97 R80 GS Kalahari (basically a R100GS with 800cc top end) a while back and the PO just handed me the exhaust guard and told me the fastener had fallen off. I've lived with it for a while but after a couple of burns I'm ready to install it. I just can't seem to get a regular screw, nut, washer installed because of the difficulty of holding the back side in place while tightening. Many thanks in advance.

There are two primary parts: a course threaded phillips screw and a spring-steel receiver clip that attaches to the hoop on the muffler (#9 below, $0.80 - part # 61131372033). In addition to that you'll need the grommet, bushing and washer. Oh, and the rubber cap that fits on the pin welded to the frame.

Thanks for the reply and helpful diagram, fishkens.
Seems like a pretty elaborate set-up to hold a body panel on.
I guess I need to order items 9-13.
