BMW Navigator IV on other brands?

Guys

New to GPS and have a line on a cheap Navigator IV from a friend. Howver, I ride a Yamaha Tenere and, at a minimum, seem to need power adaptors or? The Motorrad device is set up only for the BMW models so maybe it doesn't lend itslef to other applications? If anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate it - thanks!

You can buy the other side of the connector from a BMW shop and wire it into the Yamaha. Or just cut the connector off and use it wired in straight.

I'm considering to get cheap used BMW Motorrad Navigator IV from a buddy also, but I came up to a problem of connecting the device to the battery. I might be wrong but isn't the Nav IV gets power from the BMW can-bus connector?
I'm not a pro in BMW electronics but I guess connecting this Nav to the non-BMW isn't so straightforward...
Anyone can add something to this topic?

There is NOTHING magical about powering the Nav IV, no canbus issues. Yes, you can buy the BMW connector, it will plus into the end of the Nav IV harness and give you three wires, of which two are used to connect to your battery. The third wire is not used (it is for a speed sensor). The connector is called Repair Connector by BMW. Here is a link to the Max BMW Catalog:

http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fic...20413%20585%0A
Read the description in the box on the page, it explains the wire configuration.

You can wire the repair connector to the + and - terminals of your battery or to a fuse box if you have one.

Good Luck.
