Thank you, I'm glad you are enjoying the pictures. I wish I would of explored the UP long ago. If you do go I would say go during the fall when the colors are near peak as I did. I came home through the UP when I came home from out west on the GS at the end of August. All of the trees at that time where still green. I rode a few of the same areas on the 250 just a little over a month later and it was by far more scenic.

It was starting to get late and I was hungry after riding most of H58 heading towards Munising. I stopped at a little place called the Bear Trap to grab a quick burger and fries before heading to Miners Castle. I got there just in time to catch the last bit of daylight for the day which made for some awesome pictures.

Miners Castle.

I couldn't believe how clear the water is up here.

Map of the area, H58 is the red colored road.

Up next Lake of the Clouds.

Great pics, the water up there is super duper clear but still very chilly!! I went up in July and Brrrr!! Lake Superior does not warm up that much. Girlfriend age 21 decided that since the beach we were on was "desserted" she'd do a little skinny dipping, she got out about 1/8 mile into the water it all being about waist deep around Muninsing area before she noticed an onlooker up on the beach Needless to say she was a bit embarrassed.

I like to get an early start to the day while I'm on vacation. I don't mind one bit getting up early and hopping on the bike when there are views like this to be had.

For most of the trip I was getting up in the dark, packing my tent and sleeping bag on the bike and hitting the road at the first hint of daylight.

Some nice paved roads on the way to lake of the clouds.

Porcupine Mountains in the distance.

Parking at the top on the way to lake of the clouds.

A short walk to the overview.

Golden leaves everywhere you look.

Great RR. Enjoyed the pictures. I rode up there last spring and enjoyed it very much. There are thousands of miles of trails there and all are great. Hope to get back someday to see some more.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I did get to ride some trails, but stuck to dirt roads if they where going in my direction of travel. Its very easy to get off the beaten path up there. Wish I would of had more than one week to do this trip.

MacGyver Ga
I still have some more fall color pictures that will be coming up near the end of the trip that I feel are the best of all, stay tuned!

Walking to the end of the pathway treats you with this view.

Its much better in person, the pictures just doesn't do it justice.

I can honestly say I have never seen colors like this before.

Yea, I timed it just about right. I was sort of out of the way to go see it, but well worth it and I'm glad I made it over that way to see it.

Reddog, I think I remember meeting you at the ann arbor meet n greet this past summer. Where you on the aprilia caponord? I think I remember you talking about the shinko 705's that you just mounted up?

After leaving the lake of the clouds I had another destination in mind. Ride to the northern most point in Michigan, to the top of the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Made my way north on 26 towards Houghton. I wish I could find a dirt road with nothing but red trees like this through it.

A view looking down into Houghton from the north side of Hancock

There's not much other than copper mines north of Hancock. Finally made it into the Keweenaw.

Snow fall totals for 1978-1979 winter 390.4 inches, thats 32.5 feet!

Continuing north on US41 to copper harbor

Always have time for detour down a fast dirt road. I really like the contrast of the colors in this picture.

The last 15 or so miles of US41 really starts to get nice a little curvy and the trees almost make a tunnel over the road. Well worth the time to ride it.

Here's a small clip of what US41 looks like. There are all sorts of dirt roads/ seasonal roads and trails you can see in the video on both the left and right. I just didn't have time to ride them all.

Yes, you remember correct. We should make sure to meet some next riding season.
