Is the b loop doable on a dr650 with a decent rider on board?, how about a not so decent rider?

It should be. Last year there were folks doing it on their KLRs (with lawn chairs tied on the back for taking breaks), but they didn't have an easy time of it. HellSickle will give the definitive word since he's planning the A & B routes.

Absolutely. While the B-loop has some single track, it's pretty tame.

Here's my rating scale:

Which Route Is Best For Me?

Rider Ability
Bike

A Class
Intermediate
Plated Dirt Bike or equivalent

Expert
Up to mid-sized dual sport (400-600cc)

B Class
Beginner
Plated dirt bike or equivalent

Intermediate
Up to mid-sized dual sport (400-600cc)

Expert
Heavy dual sport (KLR650)

C Class
Beginner
Mid-Heavy dual sport (400-650cc)

Intermediate - Expert
Large adventure Bike (R1200GS)

Disclaimer: Nature is fickle. The above ratings are for good conditions.
A rainstorm can quickly make an easy route difficult.

we'll be there again...and this is a catalyst for the 6spd XC tranny upgrade I'm doing to the 300, so as not to get buzzed to numbness on those long high speed road sections...

I'm going to have to give this some consideration. :)

If one were to volunteer for route scouting, what would be the deadline to have any scouting done?

We have submitted proposed routes in the event permits applications.

As with last year, there will be changes as we get closer to the event to account for possible closures due to conditions.

I will be in North Park a few times in June clearing trails and to run mileages. We should have everything finalized by mid-July. Graywolf is responsible for the C-loops, and I'm laying out the A/B loops.

We will head up the day before the event to arrow the A & B routes.

Register early, register often...
