A Balmy 52 Degree day in Georgia

Today was a misreable 52 degrees in middle GA, so after my son's basketball game, I went for a little ride.

We don't have curvy mountain roads, but we do have endless miles of rural county lanes to explore.

Sometimes (most time actually) if you follow these peaceful byways, they will turn to dirt. I don't have the right tool for the job, but my curiosity got the best of me, and I took the VFR dirt road exploring.

I believe this is a section of the Fall Line Freeway, a route to connect Columbus and Augusta a bit quicker.

Eventually the road decended into hardwood bottoms under a canopy of leafless oaks.

Than back up to more pastures. I got lost in the ride, and it was relaxing.

After about ten miles, I returned to pavement just outside Gordon, GA. Gordon is a small Kaolin mining community not too far from my home town. There is a nice little hot dog stand in town with out door tables if you you ever find yourself in the area.

It was a nice day for a ride. I love the VFR, but a dual sport it is not. Today my desire to see new areas near where I live trumped the fact that I don't have an adventure bike, but hopefully in the near future I will. This type of riding is what I like to do best, and it helps to have the right tool. Hope you enjoyed a look into middle Georgia riding. ( If you look close at the last picture, you'll see one of my tag bolts rattled loose and fell out.)

You need another KLR for those dirt roads! I rode a little today, but it was around 42 here in East Tennessee. Still good to get out a little, didn't see any other bikes today though, sissy's

It was a beautiful day for a ride in Georgia

It was only a little cooler north of Atlanta.

Just because your VFR is not a traditional adventure bike doesn't mean you can't find some adventure on it.

Glad you enjoyed your ride.
