Sure... They can sell the bike however they want. What the purchaser does with the bike is up to them.
Think of it like this... They could sell the bike without a headlight! Not street legal at all... but it would be on the purchaser to make sure it was street legal before riding it on the street. This has nothing to do with the upgrades on the bike though... all the hater comments need to go to yomamma or something... Back to the bike! What kind of time did you guys put into building this? Are the heads bored, sleeved, re-plated....? As mentioned earlier, how does it change up the compression? HOW THE HECK ARE YOU TUNING THE STOCK ECU? <<<< Thats what i REALLY want to know!

Well since Nano didn't answer my question, and neither did you, I'll have to assume the answer is no. You're putting your CT Dealer license on the line.

I realize this forum is for everyone to add their opinion. However I look at MAXbmw in a new light. I think they deserve a lot of credit for trying something. They are obviously enthusiastic about our hobby what could be bad about that? This bike may not be for everyone but don't bash it just cause your scared of it. That's a man's bike

But, this thread is to point out a pretty sweet performance mod for your Adventure. If you dont want to do it to your bike or dont understand why it's neccessary, or are scared the state is going to cuff you, you don't need to buy it, no biggy. BUT, you're still more than welcome to come ride it!

Actually i DID answer the question. I said "SURE" which is the equivalent of a "YES". Petty and dismissive is what you're being now. And, since you've not provided any supporting documentation as to why it wouldn't be legal, we have to assume it IS legal, and can do so in a similar fashion w/o any supporting documentation! lol. BTW, they haven't sold it. Its a demo bike. Its for riding, and proof of concept. They couldn't get anything approved (*if it even needs to be*) w/o building it to test it anyway... For all you know they'll return the bike back to stock before the sale and hand the customer a box of parts! BTW, absolutely NO affiliation with MAX BMW - I've never even been to CT that i know of.... but NOW I WANT TO!!!! I mean really... who pumps up the power on a bike and then freely offers it up for test rides??? What an awesome shop!

Not that I want to pick nits, but isn't this the Akro Race Exhaust?
![]() As far as modifing the bike from stock, I always find it amusing when the stock machine is held up as the best engineered because it was what the factory gave you. I'm pretty sure the engineers are about fourth in line behind the government regulators, liability lawyers, and bean-counters when it come to designing a motor vehicle. Left to their own devices I bet the 1270 is closer to what an engineer would build. |

Garp, why are you so conserned about the act of others that need not have any impact on you?? My only concern, is the final drive capable of staying together with the extra load????? Will MAX stand behind the warranty after this upgrade?? Regards, Paul

Lot of haters out there... Congrats to MAX BMW. I think it's VERY cool and I'd seriously consider if I toast my engine. Is it legal...Sheezzz... Is it legal to not come to a complete stop? Is it legal to go 5 mph over the speed limit?? Is it legal to split traffic? (actually it is here in Ca. but that could open up another can o'worms)
Congrats again!

As to the section of the law being broken I'd refer you ot the EPA Clean Air Act which reads in part: Section 203(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act provides:

Great. Just what I wanted when I bought a bike - political correctness, environmental noise concerns and MPG worries. Haters please turn in your man cards today and enjoy your Prius's
