So wrapped up the bike today...and besides for the fact that there are absolutely no brakes, it is a runner and ready to start testing the suspension and breaking-in the motor!!
![]() It turns out that the rear brake cable we were going to use will simply not work. So this morning I called Motion Pro and sent off the stock SL rear brake cable in hopes they could re-create it only 2 inches longer. We shall see. If not, we will be trying to convert the rear to a brake rod instead of a cable. I worked on Lonnie's CZ for a bit and worked out some issues with that..trying to help him get it ready for the One Show this weekend. He is working hard, still thinking that he will have two bikes ready for the show. I have to work the rest of the week, but Luke thinks he might be able to come down and give him a hand. ![]() It was so unusually beautiful out today, that I had to get out of the garage...so I decided to wash the SL. Of course, I also wanted to get the fuel out of the carbs from last week, so I had to start it. Of course, once I started it, I had to see if the new chain/roller/guide system actually worked, so I had to ride it. Of course, once I rode it, I had to see if the transmission and clutch were functional so I had to change gears and go a little faster. Or course, it was then I remembered that I had absolutely no brakes whatsoever..so I Fred Flintstoned it to stop ![]() ![]() ![]() I washed it and got it ready for its beauty shot. I know you guys are sick of this bike by now....but I just love looking at this stupid thing!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I also washed up the Doodle Bug and am thinking that maybe the 2013 Mexican 1000 is the year of the Doodle Bug!! ![]() ![]() I came home from working on the bike all weekend, and my wife had put up a M1K shrine on the mantel ![]() ![]() I think it was really a reminder of how much she doesn't see me when I am in Baja planning mode and how moto crazy I can be. She is very supportive but she had a point when I came home from working on motorcycles all day for three days, and I still logged in to ADVrider and scanned Craigslist for the next great project ![]()

Todays question was; "what if we welded the RH foot peg mount (you know, the one that always comes loose) on the OSR SL350 and then had to pull the motor, could we do it?"
Since my race bike already has the welded RH footpeg, it was decided I would pull the motor tonite and find out. Now that the Scrambler is finished (well, as finished as I'm gonna get it), it's time to get back on the old racer anyway. Before; ![]() After; ![]() Did it work? Like a hot knife thru butter! One less thing to worry about, weld 'er up!

OC, the SL looks great with the new suspension. It looks well balanced front and rear (in terms of travel) and despite the extra travel it still has the cool seventies look. Luvvit!

I just received a rear brake cable from motion pro....worked fine. Like the glamour shots. Keep the coming.

They made you up a rear brake cable for the SL? The guy I spoke to told me I'd have to send in my old one because they had no reference one in their books. That is good news. If they were able to make up your stock one, than adding two inches to our cable should not be an issue at all!

I think the Doodle Bug should go to the Desert 100 and let me ride it, I could at least touch ground.

Just wondering, is the Honda getting any kind of noise abatement?

Yes. Deciding on whether it will be a 2-1 or twin supertrapps or similar.

Tell him, Luke, tell him: ten minutes, that will be enough.
Fire it up, idle it, rap it, run it through the gears just one time. Nice long open pipes, wailing to the redline just one time. Music. ![]() .

Twin traps would sound sweeeet! But if weight is more important a 2-1.
