I'm ready. Just need a good night's sleep, do a couple of little things with the bike in the morning and we're off. Should be a nice ride.

A gift from above! Rained pretty good in the high Sierras today.

This is what it looked like around Yuba and Donner summits.

Thinking of getting some more dirt tomorrow (somewhere off Hwy 80 east of auburn) ... maybe big bikes on dirt roads, or maybe smaller bikes on single track!

Is that the road directly across for the Snow Park at Yuba Pass on 49?

If so, there was or may still be another set of signs up higher on the tree. I think the intent is to allow multi-use early in the Fall then it is supposed to be Cross Country and Snowmobiles after the snow falls and there is a decent trail base

Yes it is the same road (FS12) but farther south towards Jackson Meadows. I usually access FS 12 from the north out of Bassetts via FS54. Nice views of the Sierra Buttes on FS54.

SI to Lost Coast and Trinidad

Good time to get out of the hot valley last week.

Left Foresthill via 193 to 20 to Maxwell and the Easy Route from '09 SI-300 track from Stonyford, only saw a rattler the whole way over the range.

Then Sherwood from Willits to FB. Saw one soul on Sherwood, on a KLR maybe.

Overnighted in FB then rode Usal to Shelter Cove, Usal was in great shape, as Twilight has reported on the LC Staging thread.

Perfect weather in Shelter Cove.

Road over Kings Range then Mattole to Petrolia, Matt Beach, Ferndale, and to Eureka for the night. Arcada, Trinidad in the a.m.

Ripped down 101 to Leggett to 1 to Fort Bragg and spotted a new ab diving spot to try out soon.

Jumped on 20 as sun was setting and rode home. That was a long day in the saddle but compared to doing most of this ride on a 530 (staging and ending in Stony), the 690 is plenty comfortable. And ~60 mpg too. :-)

I don't know how many of you guys saw Chas M's earlier post. But this is a GREAT club. Good guys with riders in all ability ranges. They know the riding spots, where to camp and when to go. Only drawback is they do allow an occasional old guy from Nevada.

Check 'em out!

Stu! You gotta new 690?
shit hot! Good looking set up. That's what I'm aiming for next for an "adventure" bike. What year is yours?

your coast ride Looks like the perfect mission for the 690. Just sold my 640A after fixing her up.

Hey Juan,

I got it new last year, a '13. Perfect ADV Lite bike for me/this kinda trip like you said.

Saw you did some T1 about same time I did. I need to go back year after next (post retirement with plenty of time), got screwed when the guy with the truck keys broke his bike and said everyone had to go home, despite an oft-repeated written and oral agreement that would not happen!

I'm set up for camping off the 690, quite a few of us are ready to roll when it cools and rains a bit so we'll give a heads up here to connect.

Also saw that NCWR used your DV footage for their upcoming DS/ADV ride promo. Nice!

I never said anyone had to go home. After my transmission grenaded I strongly encouraged the only other person with me to push on solo. I had not seen or spoken to you for days at that point.

Yep, when the dust settles, as you said. And next time you need to ride on SC Beach, before it is banned! The tide was coming in and the sand was getting pretty squishy, otherwise I was tempted to ride over the rocks at the end of the cove and keep going aways. We'll have to check the tides when we go again.

That was you guys with the grenaded xmission this year! What a bummer!

Regardless, you guys gotta make it back up there...

Stu, keep us posted on your 690 adventures here. ("I must have one")

Here's my latest video of this years partial TID T-1 experience, Day 3 with Matt and Ben on the KTM 350 EXC-F.

Jaun,

Question for you. How hard is the TID T-1 trail? Could I make it on the F800GS? I know the web site says don't take a big bike out there but....

Second, I picked up a XR 400 so I will see you on the Downieville ride. I'm ridding the ride Saturday, then depending on how I feel, I might go ridding Sunday, if you're around lets talk Saturday after the ride.

See you there.

Jerry
