I had gone down once in the late 80's and my memory told me it was tough and loose. Now I got a refresher last weekend. I don't want to have to go up on anything but a trials bike

We call that "Break Shit Hill". Up or down something is going to get broken!

"Break Shit Hill".

Thanks for that...
We'll call it the same...

Luck has it that nothing was broken on the 450. I didn't get a chance to take picks there as I was to busy breathing after running up that grade to help out! What I think is funny is it almost looks like the bike kinda just went over the edge uncontroled.
But the rider did use too much front brake rather than riding it out.

Below as we rested up at snake lake, I didn't check for damage on his machine...still, I heard no complaints accept about bruised ribs.

Found a very local place to ride today. I had never ridden in sand before. Some of it is deep, some not so deep.

I played with air pressure, starting with 18, then 15, and then settled on 10psi front and rear. (mt21/d606) Its only a couple miles to the shell station to air back up.

I put a decoy fishing rod in my pack to keep the ranger at bay. It's legal to drive/ride most anywhere out at the north end of the lake. I just felt like being a poseur I guess.

I didn't see any posted speed limits, just a sign that says no ohv's and no mud bogging. I kept speeds well under 40mph, as it was noon and there were folks there.

I've got an annual pass, (it's $125 now) I'm going back tomorrow morning for more Baja/DV training.

Cool, so you've got dirt!
I remember my buddy got a ticket there way back when for popping a little wheelie. Sounds like it's looser out there now.

Yep! I was considering getting a dirt setup for the supermoto. Turns out it's not that $imple. Dirt to motard? piece of cake, just wheels and a caliper relocation bracket and 320mm rotor. Motard to dirt needs forks and a complete dirty brake system.

I just bought another 05 650, from CO. same year but an FE. It was hard to hold the grin back when they gave me a plate

Still getting it sorted, and need to respring it.

Will try to keep front on the ground out there!

Wondering if any Sacramento guys are doing the ACT Donner ride, and if they are, would mind letting me tag along. I suppose if anyone knows of someone else going I could at the very least use a partner. PM me.

Those are the rides act does. Couple hundred miles from Colfax to Boomtown is the Donner ride.

Thanks Nips, never heard of them before, a little pricey for my wallet. Sounds like a good time, but they don't cover a lot of miles. Are you trying to tag along to save $, or trying to meet new riders?

Mostly not have to ride alone. I've paid and have a hotel room ready.

A local Mexican Eatery in Grass Valley, at the far end of Mill St down toward the fairgrounds. It's about a block away from the intersection of 49/20 but you have to look for it. It's kind of away from everything but still right in the middle of town.

I've got a group of people heading up to Stoneyford tomorrow morning. Everyone's welcome and I'm not sure of the caliper of some of the other riders, but I want to attack the good stuff.
