Thanks, I hope your dr350 gets back o the road. I love mine, 260lbs dry, short seat hieght, 6 speed, air cooled (good for being by yourself in the middle of nowhere). I will be having a seat made by Rick Mayer Cycle this Thurs. so my a## can handle the 700ish mile ride.

I picked up a Corbin seat used on ebay before the TAT and was comfy the entire trip. A good seat goes a long way.

Long slab ride to the foothills from fairfield, do you truck it part way.
I mean, I can't see much opportunity for dualsport satisfaction in the valley.

Nice stable to choose from there renogeorge...
What'd be the plan? You're already in a prime ride zone.
To meet up with valley folk who like to get into the high country, you'd be coming from the other way. ??

Might be cool to go to Paco's tacos G/V ride-in friday night and take your bonnie. I'm hoping I can make it this month...er...tomorrow night.
here's their craig's list flyer...

I'm going to try and swing by Paco's on the KLR this Friday. I'm also trying to bring some of my friends and their bikes.

One has a '71 Moto Guzzi Ambassador and a '66 BMW, another has a BMW 75/6, and the other one has a '72 BMW.

They all live in GV so hopefully they can make it.

Ha, they've got it easy!
I have not decided whether to ride the BSA or the yammy.

Currently if something doesn't mess up I'n going to be able to ride up mid afternoon as I have friends to visit with around the corner. However, if there's anyone interested in hooking up on the way or coming from sac...let me know. Otherwise we'll catch ya there egh?

I need to go ride Saturday, Sept 22 - who wants to go?

I haven't done enough riding lately and I have two bikes sitting in the garage just waiting to get all dirty. The wife's out of town until Saturday night, so I have all day available. I would prefer to go visit the trails around Georgetown or Foresthill, neither of which I've visited yet. But I could be convinced to do a long ride on the big KTM too.

Any volunteers to show me these areas? Or maybe go explore them as a first timer too?

I would like to leave Folsom Saturday morning (Sept 22) by about 8:00 a.m. and ride to the destination. If you have definite ideas of where to ride, I also need to know if I should leave my IRC GP-110 "90% street" dual sport tires on the XR650L or swap to the other rims with the TKC-80s on them.

Let me know if you're interested, and what you're interested in doing.

If I don't get any responses, I'll probably go find out where Highway 49 ends in the north direction (already did the south ride).

I might not have that day free, but the 22nd is, which is why I started a separate discussion.

I'm aware of other planned rides and often I have conflicts that prevent me from participating in them. Somehow, motorcycle riding has not been able to remain the top priority in my life.

My wife & I have teamed up with lots of folks up there over the years and it's always been a pleasurable experience.
Thanks.

The big drawback to riding with others is eating their dust, though. Especially this time of year.

So rather than a two-second following distance as works well on the street, what is good? 20 seconds? 30?

Ha,
You either have to ride right on their ass if it's single track, or be a cautious road hog if you are terrorizing dirt roads as a group of two or more...

This time of year the thing to do is get all riders on the same page. You understand that 1st if you looze the group, you have to go back to the last place your buddies saw you. You never take a turn off, you always go straight/main route. At any turns, or "iffy" junctions each rider is responsable for the person behind them to catch up. With this, riders space out as far as they need to, to breath/see. Kind of a pain but nobody gets left/lost.

It's more fluid if you don't have over 4 riders.
