Foresthill OHV?

I'm Novice...

Call ahead of time first, just to be sure it's open. The website currently says open, but one of my contacts in Foresthill said it's closed.

Yeah Foresthill is still closed right now. I was up there today riding the forest service roads around that area & they have all the trails marked off as closed. Not sure when they're planning to reopen them, it's still pretty wet up there in some places.

*most of the trails in Georgetown are open. It had dried out for the most part and was gtg Friday.

The rock creek area (southernmost trails) are closed I believe. Sometimes the bald mountain area is closed due to snow.

Stop at the ranger station a few miles past town on wentworth springs and get a trail map. About $4...The winter closures are highlighted.

I asked the ranger about it once, specifically it's a weekday amd there is no ranger on site, and I am riding my plated bike there, would I have any problem due to not paying at the drop box?

He said it's technically a parking fee, and I'm not parking so no, I don't have to pay, or something along those lines.

I live 7 minutes from Mammoth and may be in for a ride there or at Gtown. Keep me posted if/when you set a time and day.

Hmm, that actually sounds really good. :)

Are you going up from Sac?

Maybe we can ride together.

Leaving from Roseville about 730... Gives me two hours to get there, but I suspect will only take 1-1:30.

If you wanna ride together, I can meet up somewhere. Let me know!

I just signed up for the class as well. I have a truck if anyone needs a ride, or I can pitch in for fuel. I live near UCD med center. I am open to leaving sat night or sun morning.

Another short notice ride alert...

Got a surprise day off, so I'm riding tomorrow.

Prolly going to ride trails in Georgetown, or open to other suggestions if anybody is interested.

Some pics of today's ride;

Chimney from the building visible downhill from hotel.

What the once paved road looks like now, (about where the car is in the first pic);

Center of pic above bar switches is a remnant of pavement.

Find the supermoto!

Someone made a funeral pyre? On Slate mountain road.

I passed on trail riding, prolly nobody out there trail riding on a weekday if things went south.

If you want to go find it on your own, PM me and I'll help with directions. Don't want to post them here...Or name said hotel for that matter.

Cool pictures.. I don't recognize any of that area, but haven't taken my dual sport out to Georgetown before either. I think you are nearby to me, and I would like to join in on a ride sometime once I get the suspension & new tires on my XL6 in a few weeks. I've been spending most of my time in Foresthill, Sugar Pine, Iowa Hill, etc. exploring things out that way.

Metting in Sacramento

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) believes you may be
interested in attending the National Advisory Committee for
Implementation of the National Forest System Land Management Planning
Rule meeting for some or all of March 5th through the 7th.

The Committee is a discretionary advisory committee that operates
under the provisions of Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) and
reports to the Secretary of Agriculture through the Chief of the
Forest Service. The purpose of the Committee is to provide advice and
recommendations on implementation of the planning rule. The committee
is currently going through a planned rechartering to continue its
mission.

DATES: The meeting will be held Wednesday & Thursday, March 5th and
6th from 8 am to 5 pm andFriday, March 7th from 8 am to noon.

LOCATION: The meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento,
1209 L Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The meeting is open to the
public and attendees may also participate via webinar and conference
call. For anyone who would like to attend via webinar and conference
call, please visit the Web site listed below or email Chalonda Jasper
per instructions below.

FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO SUBMIT COMMENTS CONTACT: Chalonda Jasper,
Ecosystem Management Coordination, 202-260-9400, cjasper@fs.fed.us. Or
the committee's website at: USFS Planning Committee

Now more than ever, it is crucial that you and your riding friends
become members of the AMA to help us protect our riding freedoms. More
members mean more clout against the opponents of motorcycling, and
your support will help the AMA fight for your rights - on the road,
trail, racetrack, and in the halls of government.

To join, go to www.AMA Join and thank you in advance for attending. If
you do attend, please email the AMA at grassroots@ama-cycle.org.
