If the camera is fixed to the helmet it will move with the helmet, giving the impression that the helmet is still, in fact it is moving about all over the place - as you can see from the constantly shifting shadows and highlights on the helmet.

Fake
I can EASILY believe it's fake. I have two helmet cams, a contour and a vio. Even though the cameras are attached to my helmet, you can still watch the helmet rise and fall (and vibrate) according to the rock and rubble underneath the tires. The camera in this footage is too static to believe it was actual footage. Some top quality camera guys can maintain a very steady head with helmet cam footage, but given he's riding on ridge rubble I just don't see it. If the dude wants to settle the debate, why not do the ride again with a helmet cam and another camera getting a shot from the finish point as he rides toward the cameraman. Very simple to do and then the debate ends. Put me in the HIGHLY DOUBTFUL Category.

Thanks for sharing your inability to use an apostrophe and the obviously fake video which had already been posted more than enough times elsewhere. What's next, are you going to share photos of your welfare check ? It'sNotTheBike screwed with this post 01-25-2012 at 12:58 PM |

Wrong. The helmet in this video did not move at all despite the movement of the bike and rider. Are we supposed to believe that the rider's head and helmet are somehow completely disconnected from the rider's body , which is itself connected to the bike ? If that is the case, what we have here is far more interesting than the video itself. Of course the truth is that the video is a composite of several videos, and an obvious one at that. |

any video taken in that manner is going to look like that
for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtSbw...xxtxrHB7MbLR22 and even one of my own although it's less obvious as I've yet to record one with the camera mounted on the side of my helmet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPkbc...68tDPeUmDkQHyC the helmet image stays static throughout

Really???
Come on all you doubting thomases....
This is classis GJ riding! My GoPro had the same effect. Probably the combination of wide angle and anti-vibe feature...The first time I watched my replay, I couldn't figure out why the helmet looked so static....when I was actually moving around and vibrating on the ride. At any rate, this is real and the riding is real and GJ has access to some "unbelievably" great riding. 10 minutes from town...hell you could ride out your back door, duck into a wash and be on the skinny ridges in no time.. So Pedal your doubting butts out here and have the time of your life!!

Our how about this one, shot by the same guy who shot the original one in post #1? This one is shot in our very own back yard atDonner (pass) Hill. His helmet "doesn't move" much in this one either. Maybe it's faked? Maybe there is no such place as Donner(Pass) Hill. Maybe some of you skeptics don't know the first damn thing about how a video looks when it's attached to the same platform it's shooting from (in this case a helmet).
These videos are REAL, and the rest of you are idiots. I mean full blown, complete idiots.
