Not strictly a scooter i guess but im posting it anyway in case anyone is interested.
Short story is, the silver one was bought complete and running and i bought the red one off the same guy (he had like 20) because i wanted the mag wheels off it and any other spares i can get from it will be good to have. They are 50cc two speed automatics. So going to rebuild the silver bike give it a paint job and put the wheels from the red one and basically all new parts like EBR forks, tecno circuit pipe, new shocks, carb, inlet, bars, throttle assembly and levers, lower seat, chop fenders, indicator delete, puch maxi tail light, and so on, ![]() ![]() ![]()

Neat! I like these things! In the right places, mostly big cities, these thangs rock!
I used to have a Motorized Bicycle with a 49 cc 4 Stroke, Chinese engine. It was cool, but far to slow for these road raged jerks in my town. BUT, it couldn't climb hills for shit, and was SO slow off the line I could beat it on a 10 speed, or even running from 0-10 MPH! I always figured a 2 speed would be ideal for it, 1 gear to get if off the line and get up hills, one for Cruising. Also I was intrested in them there Laser Mopeds, looks sorta like a Tomos, but has a 49 cc Honda Clone style Lifan engine with 3 speed. But got me a Elite 150 instead. But these things are fun, and usually don't require a license your just require Driver License right? Or maybe Motor depending on where you live.

Thats cool. Wait do you mean you can ride 50 cc at 16 and 125 cc at 17 without a Motorcycle Endursment? Or with one? Yea but I agree you you's a plannin on street ridin, just get the damn license. Too young get a legal moped if possible. When I was 12 I had that there Motorized Bicycle. It was pretty cool. It is legal here, if its got actual working pedals. CC don't matter, it could be 250 cc as long as it has pedals and is either under a certain power or ridden at under 35 MPH. A guy in my town rides a cool ass 100 cc Motorized Schwinn Stingray. Its real neat, I think its a Honda XR 100 motor or something like that with the 5 speed. I rode next to him one time and he was doing 55 MPH! He never got pulled over, I seen him ride past 3 Sheriffs one time never got busted! But, a 49 cc Scooter is not legal without no license as far as I know. Unless it has pedals! Kinda a loophole in the law. My bike was a little slow, but it would do 35-40 MPH stock, and with the gearing and engine mods I done I seen about 47 MPH one time. Not bad! It was cool I am now thinking of rebuilding it just to have it. It actually got like 175-200 MPG! And thats at WFO! Amazing.

At 17, you can ride up to 125cc on your provisional licence. Also 17 is the age when you can do your actual car or bike driving test.. Both of which i did very shortly after my 17th birthday. No matter what age you are when you pass your bike test you can ride any bike but it has to be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, then you can ride whatever you want after that. You can just ride a motorised bicycle at any age on the road? Thats cool. Here, if something has a motor it is classed as a vehicle and has to be registered and pass the annual inspection (called the MOT), have the yearly road tax paid and have insurance. If the police see you on the road/public area even on something like a motorised bicycle or minimoto theyll confiscate it and take you to court for driving without a licence, driving without insurance, no registration and no tax and you would be fined and even if you were too young to have a licence they could ban you from getting it until you are a certain age... They didnt used to mind people messing about on minimotos etc not on the road, like in places where there were no people like in empty parks industrial estates and the like but then in some more "deprived" city areas kids were hooning around on them on sidewalks and public roads etc and a young kid got hit by one and killed and there was a whole thing... So here there is no choice for younger than 16, have to wait til 16 then get provisional licence and buy a proper scooter/moped/50cc bike.

That kind of sucks! Sounds like theres some strict laws on motorcycles where Y'all live. Here, at 15 1/2 you can get a motorcycle Permit. You can ride any size machine, just not on Freeways, No Passengers, and Not at Night, for the first 6 months, then no restrictions at all. But you do now have to take them written test, now its also past the safety course, and have a Class C Permit and completed Driving Training and Education. But, with the safety course, you basically just walk in and get your license no test or nothing. BUT, I personally think there should be a requirement for first timers limited to 250 cc for a small period of time, for ALL ages. I mean theres plenty of fun 250 cc machines, most 250 Cruiser types here will do 85 MPH, more than enough since you can't ride on the Freeway with a permit. The Ninja 250 will do 105 MPH or so, and accelerates about as fast as a Sportster, maybe not quite don't know but its pretty good. Or a cheap 250 cc Scooter on CL can do 70+ MPH. I mean lots of kids go out and by an R1 or R6 for there first damn bike, thats a tragety waiting to happen. I started out smaller than almost anybody, at 33 cc a Chinese Scooter! It was like a Goped but had a seat and some lights, not street legal style, but with a Class M license they can be ridden on the street I think if the limits like 40 MPH or so I don't know. And yep, you can ride a Motorized Bicycle! Hell, I still have mind. I'm gonna lend it to a friend, it needs a new motor. Deal is he buys the new motor he can use it till he gets his Moto Permit and a bike. Yes, theres street legal here. No Reg, Insurence, or License is required. I THINK you have to be 16 without a license I just found out. BUT, they do NOT enfore it. No cop I've met knows about the 16 requirement. I rode it when I was like 10 and never got pulled over rode everywhere for a year on it. It does up to 47 MPH with the mods I done like gearing, is a 4 stroke China engine which was good but I forgot to rejet with the straight pipe and no filter and toasted the exhaust valve but was a great motor cloe of Honda GXH 50. I am considering putting on a Honda GXH 100. Its a slow turning work engine, but it has only 0.5 HP more, but at only 3K RPM, and 2X the torque. So it'd pull hills far better, and could be geared very high for top speed I'd imagine 50+ MPH. For now new China engine only $115! ![]() If your intrested I think I got me that there thread on it a while ago I will update it if you want and will also when I fixed it.

Yea that law sort of makes since, but 2 years is a little too long IMO, maybe 1 year max should be. But how do Y'all restrict your bikes over there anyways? 33 HP isn't that bad though. But I meant the 50 cc rule at 16 is a little overboard and 125 cc at 17. Well maybe thats all you need over there, but here 50 cc is to slow anywhere but big cities. And yea its awesome! Yea sucks they ain't legal over there! But yea here they's under the radar! I like it its fun. 50 MPH isn't reallt that bad on a bicycle. I thought it would be but I still want to go faster when I'd do 45 MPH for some reason! Guess thats just how traffic moves here! But brakes were downright scary!

to be honest, i had a 50cc speedfight with some parts on it at 16 and it would sit at 55 (real speed) all day long. that is plenty. the national speed limit here is 60. traffic flows 55-60 and that bike was fine for it. a 125 can easily break the speed limit and cruise right at it so what more do you need? the motorway (freeway) is 70 but you arent allowed on it if you are on a provisional, or on a machine of 50cc or less. when i turned 17 i bought a 125 and rode it on provisional for a few weeks til i did my test, but i kept it for a while after gaining my full licence which meant i could use it on the motorway, and it was fine. it would cruise at 60 all day which is fine if you dont venture out of the slow lane. trucks here have 55mph limiters so the slow lane never gets much past 60. to clarify, i know i said you need a "provisional licence" to ride those size machines. that is not an actual licence that you do a test or any traning for. you send off for it in the mail then just get a bike and head out. i would not like to be putting people who have potentially never sat on a bike before heading out on the road for the first time, and who have recieved no instruction or training on how to control it, or on rules of the road etc, on anything bigger. 125cc is really enough for 17 yo. im a bad example cos my 125 was a 4 stroke honda XR copy so was a lot slower. 80% of kids here who are riding on a provisional go for one of the 2 stroke 125cc race reps that we get here. aprilia rs, honda nsr, cagiva mito etc etc. i can tell you right now, that these are not slow bikes. they are 125 gp replicas with lights a licence plate. they make a lot of power, and have 6 speed boxes. a de-restricted but otherwise unmodified rs125 will do over 90mph. also since the 125s, 250s and 2 strokes in general have always been so popular and are still big in the road racing scene here, parts and tuning are widely available, i have known several RS125s to break 100 and 110 mph. you can get big bore cylinders, pipes, big carbs, inlet manifolds, reed blocks, race cranks, flow and port them, the list goes on. would you really want to give a kid with no licence who;s never ridden a bike before anything more?
