Turkey 2012

Turkey 2012.

We will be riding into Turkey in August 2012 from Bulgaria on the E87 at Malko Tranovo and basically following the Black Sea all the way to Rize where I will be collecting a spare set of tyres, then riding down to Erzurum then crossing into Georgia at either Vale or Karcahi.
Has anyone ridden the route along the Black sea and have any ideas of things to do and places to see along the way we hope to spend 5/6 days in Turkey.

Eric

I did not ride the route but all I can say 5-6 days in Turkey is not enough time to enjoy the place. You'll need at least 2-3 days in Istanbul to experience the city.
Have Fun

Hi, i'm also in need of lots of infos about Turkey, can you help me?
First thing and most important is where to buy a good map, possibly in the net..
I'm looking for a pretty detailed scale, something like 1:200.000 at the max, 1:150.000 would be fantastic!
It has to show all the offroad stuff.
I have a ktm lc4, and i hate tarmac!
The goal is to cross the whole country, from Cesme to Ararat... i have about 3 weeks

Thanks, Francesco.

I can help by any means. I have same paper maps I can give you but the newest is 2 years old, though wont cause a problem. Here you can save each page and print out if that helps: http://www.kgm.gov.tr/Sayfalar/KGM/S...Haritalar.aspx
Looks like this: http://www.kgm.gov.tr/SiteCollection...ritalar/b1.jpg
Can be zoomed in/out and then could be printed best quality with a bit of tech.
This is as big as an A3 paper: http://www.hgk.msb.gov.tr/CografiUru..._Fiziki_A3.jpg
and this bigger: http://www.hgk.msb.gov.tr/CografiUru..._Fiziki_A1.jpg
I f you really need to buy, then I ll search that as well.
Good riding

Absolutely great ride report, we will be following in your foot steps, looking at the master plan we will be entering Turkey from Nessebar about the 8th August following your route to Uzongol then to Ezerum then to Posof to cross into Georgia.
Will drop you a PM nearer the time about exact dates as this will depend upon the Georgia/ Russia crossing and if we have to ride back to Trabzon and take the ferry to Sochi.
