All the reasons Florida sucks.

Even outside Naples is fun as hell.

Does it get any better than sunset on Mallory Square?

That shithole Naples

Osceola Forest

Ocala

You know GHG, sometimes it is better to than to say something negative about something, or an area you aren't too familiar with. You look less like an that way. I live in the Keys and I dislike the Miami area too, but the fact is that I can't change the many morons that live there. I just deal with it the best way I can. This means I rarely go there.
Same with Naples as it is Blue-hair heaven in more ways than one...It is AKA God's waiting room for a reason, and it seems the older peeps get, the more rights they assume they have....Just wait long enough and they will be like the Dodo....Extinct, like this thread should be..

From your last two posts, sounds like you're working for the same outfit I used to. I was in KW '83-'86. First on the Courageous, then they were foolish enough to make me skipper of the Cape Fox . I'm an old mustang BM - ran small boats in Miami Bch, the World's Busiest SAR Station, back around '79 - '81.

Thanks for your service.

Yes Sir! Started on the Maria Bray out of jax 5 days after Sept. 11th. Went to MK school and then spent 4 years at STA Yankeetown but lived in Crystal River. Did the next 2.5 years on the CGC Pea Island out of St. Pete then but spent lots of time in KW, Miami, and PR/Bahamas. Finishing up my 4 yr tour at the MLEA in Charleston, SC and somehow lucked out enough to be moving back to St.Pete Changed rates Jan '10 to the new ME rate so no more wrench turning unless I want too! Glad to hear from another Coastie!

Thank you SIR for your service and making our service so great! Losing a lot of good ones lately!

Sounds like you're on the "fun" career path like I was. And don't call me Sir - I don't need to feel any older than I already am. Plus I was an incorrigibe BM before they sent me to finishing school.

Maybe we'll cross paths at some ADV gathering. If you ever get over to STA Port Canaveral, Art, the CG Exchange manager can usually get hold of me. Seen a LOT of old shipmates and friends passing through there.

Fun doesn't even begin to describe the career I've had so far! Makes me look forward to the next 25-30!

As for the BM...you know as an MK I could have used a lot other names but since you did attend fork and knife school, I went with Sir.

I am sure I will be heading to Cape Canaveral at some point over the next couple years, so I will definitely look him up!

Thanks for the heads up and would love to meet some fellow ADVers!!
