Day 7 - Jellico, TN to Jellico, TN

Spent the day riding part of the Kentucky Adventure Tour. The portion I rode was definitely a less difficult portion, but the roads were dirty, twisty and scenic. Not a bad way to spend the day.

I think I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Nope, not a bad way to spend a day at all.

Day 8 - Jellico, TN to Black Bear Resort

Not much to say about today's ride. It was pleasant most of the time, but the heat was brutal when I was going through towns. Both the bike and I were about to meltdown in Elizabethton. Thankfully, the riding while not in town was nice.

Only two pictures to post for the day.

Now, this video is a long one, but I really like it. There some nice roads that run along the east side of lake Holston. Fast gravel with good sightlines. Great place to let the KTM stretch her legs. Here is what it looked like. (trust me, there is a video in that black rectangle)

And, of course, Dennis Cove Road...

There isn't much more from the RDV ride. Not having a point and shoot really put a cramp on the photo taking. I will finish up when I get back to my home computer.

On the plus side, I did get a new camera today. It is even waterproof, so taking those unplanned swims shouldn't be much of an issue.

We did the 2014 edition of the 7Mts Campout last weekend. Here are a few photos for ya (starred images were taken by other folks)

Friday morning and things are quiet. The first inmates are starting to show up, including Snowman318, who brought one of the traveling banners.

Saturday was the day to ride.

Nice close-up of some of the terrain that is Paddy Mountain Road
****

Why were we stopped? Oh, yeah, because of the less than ideal position I found myself in here.

Loph917 made sure I was OK before breaking out the camera

That's what I got for the ride. It was painful to take a deep breath, stand or sit on the bike, so I called it a day and rested while everyone went out to play.

Still, I can't say it was all bad. I was having a great time until the back of the bike tried to pass the front on either side before ejecting me. You know, there just ain't no way to land gently on rocks. Maybe I should have backed off a bit, but where's the fun in that?

Carnage list for the day:
broken Ram mount ride side mirror
broken left turn signal
ripped off left tank protector
various beauty marks on left fairing and brand new front fender (had to break it in properly)
helmet took a good hit, so...

Hi Michael

Great ride report as usual, sorry for your pain and the damage to the KTM, hopefully the Arai XD did it's job and will live to see another day, if not just display it on the mantel piece as you would any other art object!

"The Ride Is Never Long Enough!"

No, it is time for the Arai to be retired. It took a pretty good shot on the rocks when I landed; face first as usual

Best $100 helmet I have ever had.
