I also have a $6k accessories kicker on my policy which they said it's obvious I would get the full amount (I could easily produce that much in receipts). So in the end, they will give me $21,880 plus tax/tags.

To be honest, this seems reasonable. I think I would have trouble selling my bike just before the accident for $15,880 without having panniers on it.

This is my first time dealing with this. Am I missing something?
Sounds reasonable. They look at other samples in the marketplace to compare for pricing. So you might be in luck there as there probably aren't that many '12 GSAs with that kind of millage.

More importantly, How are you feeling?

Hope it works out because that sounds pretty darn good in my opinion.....another GSA?

Oh, and if no pictures than it didn't happen!!!! Too soon?

So how are you feeling? One thing I am curious about when I saw your set up and then heard about the accident....when you were rear ended did you fall back and hit the top case? Seems like there is potential to.....

I'm not sure what really happened as I was in the air a long time. Both panniers and the top case were ripped from the bike and I was thrown into the air. I definitely didn't land on anything but the street. The bulk of my impact was taken by my left shoulder and the helmet. I had a minor concussion and I still have pain and a large bruise on my shoulder. Other than that, I'm just sore all over.

Not sure what bike is next. I've been wanting to add a sport touring bike (RT, Trophy, FJR) to the stable when one of the GSs died, so I guess that has happened. I'm not in a rush to decide.

These are the only pics I have. The insurance adjuster did say he's never seen a drive shaft system that destroyed from an accident.

I'm gonna be selling my GSA(2010 30th Anniversary with 37K miles) soon and am starting to look at what I should ask for it. I was thinking $15K fully loaded with cases+rotopax and Akra exhaust or $14K stock. Opinions?

Wow! That is impressive. I wonder how much effort BMW puts into the bikes in regards to crash safety.

Eric...it looks kind of sad laying over on her side like that. Glad you came out of it reasonably well.....it's all about wearing good gear!

Erik....I would watch ADV and ebay for a bit and see what they are going for.

RFlagg...I guess you'll need a new TTRU Sticker

I'd probably take that settlement offer. My google-fu indicates that $15-18K is the range, but most bikes had around 10,000 miles max.

I do not have another TTRU sticker.

Bruce, regarding your question, I really don't know if I hit the top box as the bike was thrown forward. It makes sense. When I look at the helmet, it doesn't make sense that all those scrapes could be made in the same impact with the road, so I could see the potential that one set was made as my head smacked into the top case. I can only see two options for being thrown into the air as high as I was (I landed behind the bike): (1) the car lifted the rear of the bike in the air as it impacted it, or (2) the top box impacting me as it moves forward as I am leaning back due to the sudden acceleration. I remember the thud of the impact and flying through the air.

It's probably time for me to put an ad in the flea market as I still have a bunch of stuff for the 1200:
- Stock rear wheel
- stock muffler
- Wunderlich Ergo Seat
- Stock fog lights
- and who knows what else...

Sure would be interesting to see the other side of that top case.

Doing much better. Shoulder that I thought was going to give me problems has almost full mobility back. One of my hands is still sore and can't close all the way. Feels like I have something slightly torn in one upper arm. A few scrapes still healing. I predict a full recovery.

I'm on a long TDY trip so won't have the chance to ride until mid August. Have a list of bikes I want to test ride (WC GSA, Explorer 1200, Trophy, RT, FJR), but not in a hurry to buy another bike. Thinking about riding the 1150GSA in the next IBR.

By the way, I'll be in D.C. from 30 July to 9 August but won't have a rental car, but I'll be close to a metro.

This might be fun, especially if you can do it at their Salida, CO location
