seat options

Hi All. I took a Satou out for a test ride today. It was tall but manageable on the street, to tall for me to be confident in the dirt. The power wad fine, I really liked the handling and was very pleased with the windscreen.
My understanding is that with that bike there is an option for the standard or high seat. Does that option apply to the G650GS? I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the G650. The only one the dealer had was lowered, but I didn't ride it. Any fo on the suspension travel and ground clearance defference between the standard and the low? Thanks

Seats: there are 3 options of height, and your dealer can swap them for free.
Suspension travel: standard is 6.7/6.5 in, lowered is 5.5/5.1 in.
With lowered suspension the following decreases: clearance, travel, seat height and max payload.
BTW since you liked Sertao's windscreen, you should know that it's a little bit taller than G650GS's.

2012 Sertao : 860mm = 33.8" & 900mm = 35.4" -those are both tall seats for people like me with short legs?

Not sure which seat was on the one I rode, but it didn't take long to notice it felt like a board to my bobby ars. I liked the bike, but not being on my toes.

DesertDav:

I have an '09 GS and had the same problem. Bought a used Corbin low seat
from an inmate and now instead of 30 minutes, I can comfortably ride for 6-7 hours. Seat height is about the same as stock seat.
ctoldie and apex, thanks, I'll look into those brands. Thank you for your insight. Longer rides, ahoy! ;-)

Tire Pressure

I'm just about to mount up a set of Heidenau K60 Scouts (110/80R19 & 140/80R17). What kind of tire pressure works best for off-road?

The terrain here is rocky and loose, mixed with sandy washboard roads.

Ive been through very similar terrain with my Sertao with K60s although the front was a 21 inch. I ran at 20 PSI front and rear which seemed to be a good compromise between traction and flat protection.

seat height ?

I'm wondering what the seat height is on the 650 with the high/Dakar seat with cast wheels and spiked wheels. I'm coming up with 33" &34". Can any of you check that?

Sprocket Ratio You Run?

My 2012 BMW G650GS is stock @ 16/47 sprockets. I was reading the chart in the F650 FAQ on sprockets & would like to hear further comments from others that are running 17T front sprockets. I don't ride dirt & the hwy less vibes idea is attractive.
What say you?Thanks.

Hot Start Fix

Hey Guys,
Off subject now but just chiming back in from page 113 on the wife's 09..

what sounded like the hot start thing turned out to be 4 error codes??

which he said he had never seen that many on this bike?

Cleared the codes and gave it a new up date tune on the hard drive.

Wife took it for a test ride and all fixed!! She said it has some more pep in first gear ,like wowwww neally.

So you may want to ask the dealer about this new flash tune, just for FYI...

thanks for the info
will be able to ask if the updates are needed/available on mine at the next visit to the dealer
Q
how long is it between a dealer visit for you for them to just do it now or they just have not done one for a while
i thought they put them all on the computer when doing a service and would pick up that a upgrade was needed
