Did you have to do any special modding to make them work with the weights on the bar ends ?
No mods at all. Everything bolted right up quickly and easily.

I think Twisted Throttle is the only US dealer.

09 fork change

I'm going to attempt to put front forks from a 03 dakar onto my 09 g650gs wondering if i can just change out the fork tubes and not have to change out the triple clamp also.
thoughts.

Absorbers

Anyone know how much play the absorbers in the rear wheel should have ? should there be any play in them at all ?

went on a ride today supose to be for 2 days lol
3 other bmw
2 dakars and a 800
fuel stop i topped out with the most fuel used by 2 litres/4 pints roughly so ???????

from the fuel stop to the coffee shop revealed the problem

either a split tank or there is a seal /gasket in there that has let go
all before the first service total about 900km on the clock /600mile ??
left me stuck out in the countryside and to say pissed off a bit is a understatement with this
anyone else seen one of these go around the fuel pump setup or heard of one splitting there

I've been in the G650GS threads from the beginning and haven't seen this one yet. That's no consolation I guess. I know what it's like to have a trip ruined at the outset, so you have my sympathies. Let us know what you eventually find.

Remember to use your BMW Roadside assistance!

Finally getting started off road after having the bike for a year. Coming from a Sportster so this is pretty new to me.

First impression....Trailwings don't like mud

[IMG][/IMG]

Bike has been a lot of fun so far. Just ticked over 9k miles today, hopefully will get out and ride more this year...

Been there a few times myself, and I'm sure I'll be there again in the future. Headed out this morning to what was looking like a great day to ride.
And well it didn't take long for that to right down the Chitter.

Good thing the local recovery crew wasn't that far away because I was getting my a$$ kicked trying to get'er out.

Thanks Dusty, Dion. I owe you guys one.

looks like the rats had been chewing the old one but

someone at the factory needs a kicking for doing work like that and letting it get out to the public

Relative noob: just fitted a staintune muffler to my G650gs and it sounds freakin awesome. Turned a mild mannered dualie into a growler. Love it. Exy but worth the sound, weight loss and power gain. Recommend for any Oz owners thinking about a new exhaust.

Here is the bulletin: http://www.gravesurrounds.com/bike/hotstart.pdf

To quote another inmate "Basically, your engine number should be 61712400 or greater. If your engine number is less than the above, insist on the bulletin to be complied with before taking delivery. If the number is 61712400 or later, you are good to go." You can find the number on the engine case below the shift lever.

I've had my g650 into the shop 4 times at 2 different dealers and they still haven't fixed the hot start issue, even deny that there is a service bulletin after I even told them a special part had been created to fix it. He even denied there is an issue, although its easily reproducible. he said all large single cylinder engines have this issue and also blamed American gas for the issue. He even replace the fuel injector once which didn't fix the issue. I've even emailed BMW to complain to no avail. This was my first and last BMW purchase. Its a shame because its otherwise a nice bike. I'm fed up with the problem and BMW not honoring their warranty. I'm selling the bike but I might try to get it fixed one more time until its sold. Thanks for the service bulletin link I'll print it out and bring it to dealer next time.

Sorry you've had such awful experiences at the dealers you visited, especially since this is a known, well-documented, acknowledged by BMW problem. Ridiculous.
