CaptRick, GS Dave, and I rode out to that trailhead and scoped it out a little. It's tight singletrack, vague in spots, super loose in more spots, and totally unmaintained. While I haven't completely hiked it (yet), it looked to us like you could easily find yourself past the point of no return on a bike and end up hiking a long way out of there.

GS Dave remarked - "I wouldn't even ride that on a mountain bike" Yeah, the same GS Dave that will take his GS on just about anything, so that should give you an idea of the trail condition..

That said, it would make for a very cool loop, but it needs further exploration. I marked it foot traffic only to avoid liability , but maybe that will change.

Paging retroone to the vague, loose and unmaintained single track trailhead...sounds like they're saying it can't be done!

Single Track

I think he has ridden that if I'm thinking about the right place. He Lunchkit and I were out there some time ago. Also was out there with Slojoe, AtomicXRer and a few others--got some pics here somewhere...
Not all that bad as best as I recall.

Egads! I just figured out this thing is in two weeks.... when I happen to be in Santa Fe for the weekend for my son's graduation from St. Johns! Mayhaps I shall ride a bike down and partake in some of teh festivities. I will have lots of graduation stuff going on, and I don't know the schedules yet, but I'll bet I can drop out for some socializing- Where is this? Out by Tesuque somewhere?

Just read the whooooole thread, looks like it's South of the airport, by the racetrack off the tail end of of the bypass.

I will be leaving Steamboat for The City Different on Thursday and probably back on Sunday if anyone wants to ride with.

And I want to practice wheelies with Adventure Girl's 950. Will the stairs support a 1200CC trials bike?

Sooo, is there going to be a Buckman ride for this event? Sorry I am lazy, for not looking through the whole
thread to find out.

I can make a batch of my Green Chile Dip.

So, I guess I am "IN".
