It's a great day out at the annual classic meeting, wandering through the spectacular spectator bikes parked up, talking to the guys in the pits who are generally very happy to give you the history of the bikes, and watch the racing. It's a busy day!

Did you see old 146 cross the finish line in front of a Gold Star and Dunstall Commando on the Red Beemer? Still buzzing....probably will be all week...and got an award too!!!

Ok lets stop this now cos after watching the classics at the Port races I'm getting bloody keen on building (well unbuilding really) a race/track bike. Then again as you guys were saying the front guys are bloody fast.

while you guys where going as fast as you could we were taking 9hrs to go 20 odd km.....

For the BMW it would be a long boring thread involving buying wrecks of TM, junk parts off Ebay the US guys don't want and a mate or two who are handy with lathes and milling machines.....plus the understanding wife who thinks I'm nuts.
I did a brief one on the Airhead forum .....
Got a bit to do for this weekend at Hampton Downs....like sort out the clever breather I made for the gearbox that soaks the air cleaner in EP 90.......and a thermal break to be made between the carb and inlet stub to stop the carb heating up....at least its way under the 95Db threshold
Trustme does his builds on the day....
Are you on the track my Welly Adventure mate Nev talks about...Karapoti or summit....he says its two way and you get quads and all sorts there....

What you are descibing sounds like typical build thread stuff which is always an interesting read

I suspect your mate Nev is talking about the Pram Track which is a busy 4wd track that is the main connecting link from the Paraparaumu side (Maungatukutuku Valley) to the Upper Hutt side (Karapoti). The tracks we were on don't see a lot of traffic as they are reasonably lumpy and not everyones idea of fun.

These two photos are of the 24hr taken 4 years ago when my boys and I failed to get up the bottom bit - I don't think I'd like to ride a quad up this.

Yep 20 grand for a bike I'd ride maybe 3 times a year- sounds like me

i think I'll just put some roadie tyres on schmidtty & have a go on the track with him - What could possibly go wrong?

Its a Benelli, but basically the same bike except for a few cycle parts and no egg shaped rocker cover. The dipstick has " Motobi" on it.

One day it will go.
