Kymco Agility125 Valve Seals and spring compressors

I'm in the middle of replacing the valve seals in our Agility 125 and have a couple of questions:

1. What's a good valve spring compressor tool for this size valve? (Springs are about 0.9 inches O.D.)
The one's I've found locally are sized for cars and are too big. Anyone got one they'd recommend?

2. There's a fair amount of carbon buildup on the valves and on the piston. What's the proper
way to remove this? I know I don't want to scar the mating surface...

thanks,
tomk

Sorry, can't help you with your question but was wondering how many miles on the agility?

Can I ask you why you're doing this? Is there a problem with the engine? Alot of people de-carbonize their engine, but that was a long time ago. Since you are already here, use one of those 3M discs and a drill.

~6000 miles.
It's using some oil, mostly on start-up.
It's reached the point of fouling the plug such that it's not running very well.
Thought I'd tear into it and see what was up, thus the photos.
I'll put it back together with new valve seals and see if that helps. It's certainly possible that
it needs new rings... We'll see.

Thanks for the 3M pointer.

I wound up making a valve spring compressor tool... A u-shaped piece of Al. taped to one side of
a big C-Clamp. Works just fine.

Couldn't that buildup and fouling also be caused by a very rich condition? Like the Bystarter stuck [Choke on] on or something?

I believe you're on the right track; valve seals. I just can't believe such a young engine is having these problems already!
