F800GS Parts/tips/ Help?
Hi, New to here for help. I have a new to me, 2010 F800GS with front end damage from salvage auction. I have ordered most parts through BikeBandit but still can't find complete instrument cluster for bike(with computer) in Km/h for Australia. A few sites list them but can't ship to Australia or can not order them when i place the order. Im also chasing white side fairings (New or Used) and unfortunatly someone between salvage auction and the sorry original owner will not now supply any keys for me. Problem!
Can anyone help with any of these hurdles. I have already purchased outer fork top tubes, headlight assembly, panel carrier, touring wind shield. I anyone has some tips i would appreciate it. |

If you need something shipped from the US I can ship it off for you. I am sandwiched between two bmw dealerships. The instrument cluster can be changed between km/h and mph so I don't think there is a specific one for Australia. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Should be able to get keys made at a dealer using the VIN number - may need the title too?

As far as I know, the instrument cluster is coded and unique to the bike, therefore cannot be swapped or taken from another bike and installed on yours and still work. The instrument cluster is actually another computer module on the network on the bike.
I went through an ordeal trying to find a used replacement after a crash, but ended up having to buy a new one from BMW, it was coded for my bike before it arrived at the dealer I was told, then they still needed to have it hooked up the shop's BMW computer to get it to work on my bike. They are very expensive, so was the labor to install it.... Wish I had better news for you. Welcome to ADVrider mate. Good luck! |

I have bought two used clusters and they both worked fine in my bike with no programming, just plugged in. No error codes shown in the display.
Never got around to trying out yours Finn, still in a box somewhere as I found a mint one while it was in transit. I am already in touch with Aus_rider but if anybody else needs some F650/F800 parts, I have lots of good used ones.

Thanks anyway Lukas. I had already ordered and paid for mine. Are your faces in km/ h ? I realise that the digital can be changed but there are some with both metric and imperial speedo inside one another.

One more question. Does anyone know of any other complete sticker or decal kits for f800gs. I have found the Touratech ones but yet to find a way to order them into Australia as their website does not allow it. Also I'm not sure how colours would suit white plastics that look a little worse for wear at the moment. Just to hide them for a bit.

Alex,
My speedos are in km/h but show miles as well. For graphics there is a much better alternative than BMW or Touratech, Humvee Graphics: http://www.humvee-graphics.com
